Members sumasmreq Posted July 19, 2005 Members Posted July 19, 2005 Hi, I am thinking about buying this japanese bass from a guy on some other forums. Its a 1986 Precision bass, sunburst finish. Is 280 too much? I know for strats and stuff that the 80s japanese stuff is kind of the awesome deal stuff. BTW this is my first bass.
Members Geddy'sFavHeadache Posted July 19, 2005 Members Posted July 19, 2005 in my opinion, that's a good deal for MIJ. i've heard u can't tell the difference between MIA and MIJ. I'm envious!

Members sumasmreq Posted July 19, 2005 Author Members Posted July 19, 2005 Sweet. Its going to be my first bass. For amplification, I was brainstorming because I know I will have to buy a new amp, but we were thinking that maybe I could buy a blackface bassman, and use it for now for bass and guitar (until I need more power) and then when I need more power, install a Line-out on the amp and just buy a power amplifier down the road, and essentially use the bassman as a preamp. Is this a good idea/bad idea? I want a bassman for guitar mainly but thought that this might work good too.

They are loaded with guitar speakers, and those speakers will not last. If you mean a vintage one, you can get seperate bass and guitar rigs for that price. Why not get a Gallien Krueger head and some seperate guitar and bass cabs? GK heads sound pretty darn good with guitars as well as bass, and they don't cost a lot especially if you go used.
Members sumasmreq Posted July 19, 2005 Author Members Posted July 19, 2005 i don't mind solid state for bass, but I like interacting with my amp using pedals and stuff, and that is why I primarily want a bassman. Its not as easy to do some of the stuff with a solid state that you can do with a tube.
Members sumasmreq Posted July 19, 2005 Author Members Posted July 19, 2005 oh yeah, I could pick up a bassman for 500 guaranteed, probably 450 and maybe even cheaper than that if I got really lucky (for the vintage blackface) Either way, which gallien krueger would you recommend?
