Members Benjamin Posted July 20, 2005 Members Posted July 20, 2005 Last night we did the first test on the bungalow studio. Our guitarist purchased a Firepod setup and it works a treat! The guitarist and I had egg-cartoned the drummer's corner, and installed two of the partitions that we built. The drummer ended up almost fully enclosed (we could only see his head). His initial thoughts were that it was too enclosed, but that changed when we put a set of headphones on him Overall the sound in there has tightened up, however my lower frequencies are now way too much. If I lower them on the EQ then that affects the recording too much. Any clues as to whether proximity of walls etc will be doing this? Our drummer was MUCH MUCH tighter, being able to hear us through the cans, and everyone else could hear each other better. I now think the problem with our drummer not performing was down to the fact that he never got anywhere in practice sessions. If he failed to built confidence in practice, then in gigs he was flying blind. We have a band competition on the 10th August, so 4 tracks are in preparation for that. Once the comp is over we will have refined the recording process to the point where we can start doing the EP. I honestly think the results from our studio are going to be pretty good. Not professional studio squeaky clean, but definitely workable. We save ourselves a {censored}eload of money too
