I just moved back to Denver from Baton Rouge...So gimme the scoop on the Denver live music scene - where are the cool live music clubs, cool local bands, is FirstBass still open, etc?

Any forumite meetings coming up?

Let me know!

P.S. Get your tickets now for the Stanley Clarke, Jean Luc Ponty, Bela Fleck show at the Paramount! I think they're like $45/ticket on ticketmaster.

Denver live music... Depends on what kind of music you're into. I'm pretty much into the rock stuff, so for the smaller rock clubs there's Herman's Hideaway, Soiled Dove, Iliff Park Saloon, Ecks Saloon, Buffalo Rose, what used to be Sportsfield Roxx (not sure what it's called anymore), Cricket on the Hill, Cervantes, Club 156, 15th Street Tavern, Rock Island, Lion's Lair, Snake Pit, and others that I know I'm forgetting.

For big clubs there's The Fox, The Fillmore, The Ogden, The Bluebird, and the super big places like Coors Amphitheater, Red Rocks, Universal Lending Pavillion, and Pepsi Center.

I'd guess that 90% of the shows I see are either at The Bluebird, The Ogden, or The Lion's Lair. All three are on Colfax east of downtown.

First Bass isn't open anymore. I hear Guitar X is a good shop, but I've never been there. Rob's music up in Boulder is alright. Honestly, I normally go to Musician's Superstore because it's close, has a good selection, and isn't Guitar Center.

Not sure about meetups. A few of us hung out at The Wynkoop a couple weeks ago.

Thanks Zach! I appreciate the info! I remember Rock Island from my high school days (A-West baby!), but I thought it was mainly a dance club. That sucks about FirstBass. IIRC, it was a pretty cool all-bass store. It's been years since I went to Rob's, so I need to go check them out. Where is Musicians' Superstore? Is that the one up by 92nd and Sheridan?

Again, I appreciate the help!
