I guess this is the replacment for the Workingman 4004. It must be fairly new, I can't find anything on searches here or at other forums for a review.

Anybody have this? Pros/Cons? Is it just like the 4004?

Input is appreciated, cause I'm going to look at this pretty hard. The thing is no one here carrys GK or Ashdown and I want to get something I can hear before buying. Only other thing I can compare it to here is Ampeg BR series. Reviews aren't all that great on them but I'm not ruling them out. I will be doing that tomorrow.

Hey there,

I played the 4004 in a store before and i think the new amp is basically the same thing just a new face lift on it.

But if like the sound of it which is pretty transparent in my opinion then you could probably go for the Peavey Firebass for a little less money and you'd have more power.

The amps sound a lot a like. Which is how your bass sounds.

So I recommend a Peavey.

The Ampeg is good too and will add some color the SWR or Peavey will not.

Have fun deciding. Its the fun part of shopping.

Thank you for the reply. I don't think many people have these yet. I do like the idea of a transparent sounding amp so I can add my own color if I choose, like a BDDI. Some others have said this combination worked very well for them.

I have the WM 4004 teamed up with an Avatar 4 ohm B115 cab (for full wattage) and with the gain turned up to about 1:00 o'clock and the tweeter on the cab only on about a 1/4 it sounds very full and thick. It does not sound colored, though, and not a bit muddy. That's a good thing, yes? Both my Fender GL and Ibanez Roadstar tend to sound a bit on the brite side to start with. I can't say for neck-thru's or dense wooded basses, though.

Cheers
