Members bassman1956
Stopped at Brookdale Music to sample a Roland Cube-30 Bass combo. VERY impressive little amp! Just may go back for it! Lots of power for a little thing, and no whimp on the tone, either. The built-in amp modeler is a nice touch. Think I'd just leave it on a setting... Also has some effects modelers built in. Not good enough for a gymnasium, I'm sure, but not bad at all with a little bedroom amp! Anyways... Played a Spector Euro 4 LX, just like this one, only entirely in that transparent Royal Blue stain: First, a very beautiful bass, in spite of being fretted. Loved it! Really played nice, like buttah, the neck felt good, the whole bass felt very solid, balanced okay, and the craftsmanship was superb! My only complaint is that I don't like the 4-knob arrangement with stacked bass/treble and mid/freq knobs. (edit) Well, okay, prefer the tones of my Jerzy more too. (/edit) Now, it was used-like-new, and really was mint. At $999, I didn't think it was too bad. And I can see why you guys rave about them. If I had an extra grand sitting around, it may be home with me by now! Then again, it wasn't enough to get me to sell my beloved Jerzy , which is the only way I could swing it right now. But it sure was a sweet bass! As for the Cube, well, it may wind up home with me soon...
Members bassment zombie
'56 - very cool I wouldn't ever buy a bass like the Spector, but I can definitely appreciate its tone, playability, construction and feel. About Roland amps, I started on piano and moved to synths as a kid, and my first keyboard and amp were both Rolands. The amp just said "keyboard' on it, or something to that effect...probably right around 50-60 watts - 10 inch speaker or 12...I can't recall. It was a great little amp, and I used it for all sorts of different purposes for many years. How much is the Roland you found? Another idea/suggestion for you would be the Peavey Microbass. 20 surprisingly loud watts, indestructible plug-n-play amp. I bought mine a few years ago for $40, and it was in great condition - still is! There's a bit of dust buildup on the bottom shelf as you can see, but a wet washrag/soap would remove all of that. It sounds surprisingly good, in my opinion, as well. A month ago, a friend of mine had a music jam party - 4 guitarists came with their acoustics, there was a synth setup, and I brought my Microbass. I played my Turser Beatle bass and wasn't able to turn the gain past 3. Great little amp - I'll never get rid of it, and it's perfect for home/bedroom/practice play. I just took a low quality photo of it for ya...it's a 1989 model. Here you go:
Members T. Alan Smith
Roland is far too underrated for their amps. Every g**tarist should be familiar with the industry standard JC120, for example. I played a Spector just like that one in a GC a few months back and felt the same way bassman. The Korean ones offer bang for the buck, but leave a bit to be desired in the grand scheme of things. Those Euro models are quite fab tho.

You know, if that thing had the tones my Jerzy does, I'd be spamming other gear on HCBF right now!
