okay, so i've got a new head (GBE1200, thanks again hasbeen), and am getting a new cab probably this weekend, a peavey 412tvx. the decision i'm facing now is, which cab do i pair with it?

choices are:

Avatar 2x12

Ampeg SVT410HLF

Ampeg SVT806

hmmm....or do i just sell them all and run the peavey solo???

*ponder*

I think you should test them all and see. Don't limit yourself to just using the Peavey, though.

I say you'll get at least five complaints from the neighbors, though. All that speaker area with that many watts should be illegal. :D

I know a player who uses a GB 4x10 and his tone is killer, with a Hartke head.

If I read it right he already owns the other ones.

Genz-Benz cabs are killer, though! I've got one and am debating getting another one (have cash to burn on one of a few bass-related items - p/ups [and maybe bridge] or a second cabinet).

Ahh, OK then...my medication has the effect of narrowing my ability to see the obvious.

For the style you currently play, i'd say Ampeg 410, don't know the 806 is.

Isn't the GB alittle too clean sounding for your playing? Or did you pick up a unit like Matt has?

You sounded good through that, dirty yet with an undertone of clarity.

that's exactly it. the cabs listed above are the ones i already own. and unless i can broker some sort of a trade deal, i won't be getting any more...i would love to play some GB cabs, i just can't afford the cash outlay for them. :(

actually, i'm not really "in the market" for cabs, but one never knows what might happen. i wouldn't mind trying out some of the high-end stuff, but there isn't anywhere around here that sells much of it. about the best we see here in the KC area is ampeg, the occasional GB and once in a blue moon a couple of bagends or aggies (but those are usually used stuff)

:( our music store scene sucks! :(
