Members mlwarriner Posted July 28, 2005 Members Posted July 28, 2005 okay, so i've got a new head (GBE1200, thanks again hasbeen), and am getting a new cab probably this weekend, a peavey 412tvx. the decision i'm facing now is, which cab do i pair with it? choices are:Avatar 2x12Ampeg SVT410HLFAmpeg SVT806 hmmm....or do i just sell them all and run the peavey solo??? *ponder*
Members illidian Posted July 28, 2005 Members Posted July 28, 2005 I think you should test them all and see. Don't limit yourself to just using the Peavey, though. I say you'll get at least five complaints from the neighbors, though. All that speaker area with that many watts should be illegal.
Members THB_bassman Posted July 28, 2005 Members Posted July 28, 2005 Sorry if this seems dumb, but why not Genz Benz cabs?I know a player who uses a GB 4x10 and his tone is killer, with a Hartke head.

If I read it right he already owns the other ones. Genz-Benz cabs are killer, though! I've got one and am debating getting another one (have cash to burn on one of a few bass-related items - p/ups [and maybe bridge] or a second cabinet).

Members Fran da Man Posted July 28, 2005 Members Posted July 28, 2005 For the style you currently play, i'd say Ampeg 410, don't know the 806 is.Isn't the GB alittle too clean sounding for your playing? Or did you pick up a unit like Matt has? You sounded good through that, dirty yet with an undertone of clarity.
Members The Insomniac Posted July 28, 2005 Members Posted July 28, 2005 Unless you are looking for over-kill, the Avatar B210 would be my pick for a value selection. Otherwise I would think about the Eden 210xlt. Just one guys opinion.

Members mlwarriner Posted July 28, 2005 Author Members Posted July 28, 2005 Originally posted by niomosy actually, i'm not really "in the market" for cabs, but one never knows what might happen. i wouldn't mind trying out some of the high-end stuff, but there isn't anywhere around here that sells much of it. about the best we see here in the KC area is ampeg, the occasional GB and once in a blue moon a couple of bagends or aggies (but those are usually used stuff) our music store scene sucks!
Members mlwarriner Posted July 28, 2005 Author Members Posted July 28, 2005 and in all actuality, in my heart of hearts, i want one of these more than anything else, cab-wise...
