Members januaryscar Posted July 28, 2005 Members Posted July 28, 2005 When i am playing at a gig, the sound guy plugs into the DI on my head, which seems to draw power from my head, resulting in less volume coming from my cab, and me not being able to hear what i am playing. (foldbacks, 99.99% of the time suck). Can I get the sound guy to plug into the DI on my sansamp, which i am running just as an 'effect' on the floor? will this result in more volume from my head and cab?
Members illidian Posted July 28, 2005 Members Posted July 28, 2005 Yes, that would work. But running the D.I. should not affect your head's output power unless he is also lowering your input (pre-amp) volume as well to get a quieter signal.

The SWR has one tube, which I believe is used for the Bass and Treble controls in the pre-amp (both sides). If it was a driver tube (normally two sides), and half the tube was used to feed the D.I. signal when an XLR plug was plugged in (essentially losing half the gain), then what you are describing could be happening. But I don't think tubes can do that, and that's the only explanation I can think of if he isn't touching your knobs.
Members januaryscar Posted July 28, 2005 Author Members Posted July 28, 2005 It has a line and balanced XLR output - i set it to line, as i was told this makes my eq settings on my amp come through the pa... so what you're saying could be currect...

Members Ender_rpm Posted July 28, 2005 Members Posted July 28, 2005 Does this happen at multiple venues? If so, then it is electronic. If it has only happenned @ one, it may just be the sound man trying to make sure he has control over your stage volume to make his life easier. At least thats what has happenned to me in the past
Members januaryscar Posted July 28, 2005 Author Members Posted July 28, 2005 It doesnt happen at all venues...Its only happened once or twice...next time i think i ll just get the sound guy to plug into the BDDI. See what happens. When i cant hear myself play i play sloppy as.
