my guitar tech is going to build a parts jazz for me with the following general specs:

4-string fretless

quartersawn maple neck w/ lined ebony fingerboard w/ dots

either

a) light swamp ash body, Mary Kay finish

b)alder body, sunburst finish

i'm going to draw it up and look at the finishes later, but wanted to see what you guys would choose...what'll it be?:)

What statement do you want to make?

You don't see many Mary Kay Jazz's, so if you want to be different, that would be your best choice.

Lot's of Jazz's with bursts out there, but I do prefer the three color burst.

good point:)

i do like the classic sunburst, but i was just imagining the mary kay on a jazz, and when i scrolled my visual up to see the ebony fingerboard, it just felt right

i suppose it's a plus when you're different without trying to be and it just feels right...

so i'm going with it--check out my 'Jazz Bass Build: Progress' thread! i'll keep it updated as the process goes

So, I would have to think you'd have just about the only lined, dotted, fretless Mary Kay Jazz out there.
