Members hish Posted July 30, 2005 Members Posted July 30, 2005 Whats the tonal difference? I've heard more headroom, but can't find much information about them. Also, has anyone tried out Vale Art power tubes? (kt88s) Thanks!
Members phatster Posted July 30, 2005 Members Posted July 30, 2005 I use the VALVE ARTS KT-88 in a sound city 150 and a hiwatt 200.They have been reliable and are cheap comparative to what is considered the best-Genalex.I get all the headroom i need.THE ONLY KT-90 that I used was in an audio amplifier,in that application they did well, however a bass/guitar amp presents a much heavier demand at least in the volume area....I would go with the Valve Arts and you can get them cheap on ebay.Good luck!
Members hish Posted August 1, 2005 Author Members Posted August 1, 2005 So, KT90s put out less power than 88s right? A guy at a vintage shop told me "if you want headroom, go with kt 90s" -- which lead me to believe that, well, they handle more power. If they handle less than KT88s, do they handle more than 6550s? What are thei're sound characteristics?
