Foote was one of the originals that came to the Avs from the Nordiques. He's probably the toughest player the Avs have and can skate with the best of them. Basically, he's the guy the Avs would put on the other team's best player game in and game out. It's totally huge for you guys & totally sucks for the Avs. but... Word on the street is the Avs are going to try to work a deal with Forsberg and Naslund which would pretty much render any sort of season or playoff uselesss because we'd kick everyone's ass so bad. He doesn't score of a lot of goals, but he destroys people in front of the net, and he's a great skater like Zach mentioned. Sundin is hoping Toronto will grab Forsberg so they can play together as well. Apparantly Forsberg wants to play with either one of his fellow Swedes. I heard that Forsberg said he would not be returning to Colorado and will only play for Vancouver or Toronto because he want to be on a line with either Naslund or Sundin. I'm praying for Toronto!!! That said, Nashville is in good shape. edit: Wow, NHL.com says Foote turned down a 4-year, $12-million deal with Colorado to sign with Columbus. The Blue Jackets could be dangerous this year. Plus, they had to make choices... Sakic, Forsberg, Hejduk, Tanguay, Blake, and Foote are all huge names in the league & all command quite a bit more than an average player. I think they're starting to plan ahead going more for youth apart from Sakic & Blake. They drafted 4 centerman & one defenseman this year. That said, I'm real bummed to see him go. With the trap possibly nullified and more long passing plays, a defenseman who can line up one-on-one with a Sakic or a St. Louis and shut them down is going to be worth their weight in gold. On the one hand, during the 2001-2002 season, he was so inconsistent and he was obviously sandbagging around the Olympics. Then he got hurt in the playoffs and missed the next year. He was in good form for the 03-04 season, but he's not getting any younger either. The Blues tend to know what they're doing regarding skaters, it's goalies that they can't get right. All these deals going around and they're just sitting on their hands doing nothing! I have no idea what Ferguson (GM) is thinking. He's paying a {censored}ty defenseman like Kaberle 2.3 million, while a hard working forward like Darcy Tucker gets 1.6 and Roberts can't even get an offer for 2 million. A {censored}ty defenseman like Antropov gets a qualifying offer to stay, but Domi doesn't?? Argh. I think I'm going to get the NHL tv package just so I can watch other teams.
