OMFG! it's so awesome 400 watts all tube i got it from my guitarist and drummers old bass player cause he started his own company and he doesn't have time to play anymore, i play it with a Soundgear SRX 300 Active eq bass, and ohhhhh man it's like an AMPEG on steroids i don't see why it was discontinued

Oh yeah i paid $800 for the Classic 400 Head(in perfect condition) and a PEAVEY 410 TVX cab(few minor tears in the fabric on the bottom from dragging it before he got wheels for it).

In your opinion did i get a good deal?

I've been collecting info from some Peavey insiders and basically it wasn't marketed and didn't sell well.

here is a thread on TB that talks about the amp quite a bit.

Hell yeah! I paid $350 with a flight case and had to put $250 worth of tubes in it and $100 for the tech to bias it.... so $700 for just the head.

well you play a 4 string with raggin' full-on saturation...

that Sunn was nowhere near enough for me. I went tubes for the tone... the way it reacts to my playing and for the 3D quality the 6550/KT88 give to my sound

i just figured out that we don't need to mic me anymore i just crank this baby up to 3 and i'm heard all over the place   . i'm thinking about taking out the front plate to get the glow effect and paint the grill blue or something like that.

this amp amazes me everytime i plug it in, maybe there wasn't a high request for them when they were on the market but now alot of people want them, i hope they try and bring them back to the market that would be f*ing awesome. :D :D

oh yeah it maybe a little heavy but i wouldn't let that be a reason for not buying it, for you that play punk-pop it might be too heavy but well i'm in metal so i just pop out a power stance and dead lift it onto my 410 but i might need a little help when i order my new 1x15

if you have any doubts then you're a complete idiot i've put many hours on the ampegs 300 watt tube amps and their solid state amps at Matt's Music here and well i wouldn't trade the CLASSIC400 head alone for an AMPEG tube head and a 8x10 cab

i just like it that much

Once that's done, there's no looking back. Last time I had it on the meter, the RMS output was 443 watts.

I just slipped a disc in my back imagining trying to carry that thing up and down the 3x2 flights of twisty, rickety, narrow stairs to get up/down from my apartment :(:D
