(Hockey) LEAFS!!!

They really dropped the ball now. Losing Gary Roberts and Joe Nieuwendyk. They'll probably lose Domi too. This isn't looking good. They don't have much of a team as it stands, and I'm not too confident in the players they're wanting to keep.

They should have bought out Kaberle. He's a horrible defenseman, he can't hit, and he's great at giving up scoring chances to the other team. Same goes for Antropov. Worst player on the team if you ask me. I can't believe the Leafs made him an offer. Let's hope he gets a better offer from another team and leaves.

Some of the rumours for the Leafs look promising. Apparantly Glen Murray and Ziggy Palfy want to play for Toronto, which might make up for losing the others.

Any hockey fans want to rant or congratulate their teams?

Avs lost Foote last night, which sucks but the rumors floating around are good... Forsberg/Naslund, baby!!!

Seriously, if they can pull that off we'd probably lose Tanguay, Hejduk, or both on top of losing Foote, but man... Forsberg and Naslund are easily two of the top 5 best players in the league.

Anyway, if the Forsberg/Naslund deal can't be done I'd like to get Modano. I've always liked the way he's played even though he plays for a gay team.

I think Tanguay and Hejduk have already been extended offers.

That said, the Preds are in really good shape. :) They were already below the salary cap, so they don't have to shed any high-dollar contracts. And with a little improvement over last season ('03-04, since last year was canceled), they could surprise a lot of people. ;)

The Wings is now a complete pansy team without him. No toughness.

Maybe Shanahan can throw a few roundhouses but thats about it.

:(

So who's going to stop Tootoo from breaking the whole team next time they're in Nashville? :D

Their rights have been retained to Hejduk & Tanguay, but they're not signed yet.

If Nashville wins it after Tampa Bay won two years ago, hockey is officially no longer a Canadian sport :p

Bonoman, Leafs are rumoured to be getting Palffy, Glen Murray, and I've also heard about the Sundin/Forsberg deal. If they can land those dudes, I'll be saying Gary who?? Roberts is 39 anyways, not much left in his tank.

Yzerman just signed with Detroit.

Bobby Holik just signed with Atlanta.

Stupid "Fang" powerplay finger movement thing.

Silly.

I'm with you there! I think all of Canada is very bitter that Nashville has a hockey team. I'll admit they have a decent team, and they have Josh as a fan, but you'll have a hard time convincing me that Nashville is deserving of an NHL franchise.

I'm sad to see Footer go. He was a great defenseman here for a long time. :(

However a Forsberg/Naslund deal would MORE than make up for it.

I think Roberts is as much if not more than a leader than Sundin. As much as I love Mats, I love Gary a little more. The dude is just awesome no matter what his age is.

Forsberg. Eh...the dude needs to toughen up to earn more of my respect.

A tap on the shoulder and he'll be done and all you'll have is Naslund. Which is saying a lot but eh.

He's definitely got more heart and grit, he'll be missed for sure. It's just tough to play his style of game at 39. Especially after a year off.

I'm trying to figure out why they put Derian Hatcher on waivers. He was with them for like 4 games, got hurt, then came back for the playoffs. He never did anything, and after they worked so hard to get him.

It's going to be a rough season for the Wings. They do need some balls back in there. I'd be interested to see what they've got planned by letting some of these guys go.

You're upset about Nashville, but not any of the rest of the south? Texas, Florida, Carolina, Southern California, Georgia, Arizona...that stuff is just wrong.

Oh hell yes I'm pissed about those market having teams as well, but Nashville was the topic at the time. Most of the people in Arizona don't know what hockey is, I don't know what Gretzky is doing down there. Same goes for Tampa Bay, that city still hasn't even realized they won the cup last year.

Cities like Winnipeg and Quebec can sell out their 17,000 seat arenas no problem, but they still didn't have the funding to keep the teams alive. They moved to the US because of corporate funding, not because they'd have more fans. Now with the new salary cap, these cities could easily have teams again. I'd love to see the Jets and Nordiques back in action.

A lot of the teams in the south are great and can still compete, but that's just because they're in the NHL. If you can only bring out 7,000 people to each game, I don't think that market deserves an NHL team.

I know, I was just trying to goad you on.

:D

I think that if you don't get ice naturally, you shouldn't have a hockey franchise.

God no! Forsberg is a whiny little bitch! He'd better not play for T.O.
