Members Detox
Couldn't say, I haven't taken the back of mine off yet. You may be able to find out what brand yours are by comparing your speaker codes to this.
Members mike fitzwell
It's more than likely an Eminence driver. Your best bet is either a recone or get a replacement directly from Ampeg. From what I've read their pricing on replacement speakers is pretty good.
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted August 3, 2005 CMS Author Share Posted August 3, 2005 Yes it's Eminence, but it's an OEM, so you can't get a direct replacement other than from Ampeg. They've got good service, just give 'em a call....do a 411 on St. Louis Music in St. Louis, MO.

Members Deville
If it's anything like my old Ampeg 4x8 cab, it uses SLM speakers (St. Louis Music). I don't think these are repackaged Eminence types, unless they've changed suppliers.
Members Deville
Wow, their replacements are pretty inexpensive.Do they ask for the originals back? Seems to me you could build a cab and fill it with OEM Ampeg speakers for less money than it would take to buy decent Eminence drivers.Boggle! I'll stand corrected, but I'm pretty sure SLM, and predecessor ownerships of Ampeg have never built their own speakers. Ampeg has used Eminence starting in the mid-60's and CTS before that. Many companies buy speakers built to their spec by a major like Eminence, Jensen, JBL, etc. Some are rebadged, such as "Special Design" Fenders, while others are sold with the original maker ID's as an upsell feature. Interesting tidbit; Eminence's first speaker was an 18" for Ampeg.
