Members MrJoshua Posted August 4, 2005 Members Posted August 4, 2005 ...with the Flyers? I didn't see that one coming. Lots of people moving around still.

Members Thrash Jazz Posted August 4, 2005 Members Posted August 4, 2005 At this rate, the Leafs won't even make the playoffs. Jeff O'Neill is good, but he ain't no Roberts.

Members zachoff Posted August 4, 2005 Members Posted August 4, 2005 Yeah, a lot of people are pissed in Denver. That and season ticket money isn't due for another two weeks & I foresee a lot of people dropping them. Anyway, we got Briesbois and Turgeon overnight & they're two good players. Seriously though... Our top 4 forwards are pretty f'n good: Sakic, Hejduk, Tanguay, and Turgeon. Plus Konawalchuk has to be one of the most underrated players in the league. I'm sure we'll get one more pretty good forward & be pretty set though. I'm looking at maybe a Kariya or someone similar to round out the forwards for the first two lines. The Avs aren't as hurt by this as everyone thinks. Hell, if you look at Forsberg's playing time the last 5 years I think he was hurt about as much as he played. Anyway, I digress... We'll have to wait and see. Esche isn't exactly a great goalie. The Flyers won't win the Cup with him.

Agreed, seems like they aren't signing anyone because they can't afford to... IMHO they should have bought out a few more contracts, then they could have been pulling a Philly right about now. I can't believe they qualified Antropov at $1.5 mil and then offered Roberts the same amount. That's just plain insulting, although to be fair, Antropov still has his best days ahead of him. Oh well, at least Roberts and Nieuwendyk didn't go to Ottawa, like the rumours said.
Members zachoff Posted August 4, 2005 Members Posted August 4, 2005 Also, the Flyers are going to have to deal Roenick now. I'd f'n love it if Roenick gave a big fat F.U. to the Flyers and played with the Avs for $1mil. Prolly won't happen, but you never know.

He'd fit in pretty well there!

But, we'll be fine with the guys we have. Everyone else has the same restrictions so it's not like the playing field won't be level. I'll take our boys over "theirs" still.

Exactly, except that they also offered the $1.5 to useless people like Berg and then only offered Domi - admittedly past his prime but actually scoring more than ever in his career - only $1MIL. But whatever. As long as we keep Sundin, Tucker, and Belfour I will always believe that we stand a chance.

Although it remains to be seen how effective he will be in the so-called "new NHL"...

Members coyote-1 Posted August 4, 2005 Members Posted August 4, 2005 And the Islanders flat-out lost Adrian Aucoin, who is (was) one of their better defensemen. My brother and I were considering not re-upping our season tix. Losing Aucoin with no comp whatsoever ices it - even though they got Zhitnik to fill the gap. We may yet get tix again, but after this whole lockout nonsense the league and the Islanders in particular have to prove themselves to us before we'll spend more Aucoin on tickets.

Members MrJoshua Posted August 4, 2005 Author Members Posted August 4, 2005 Nashville has dropped ticket and concession prices back to the level they were at when the franchise first started. I'm happy about that.

Flyers aint winnin jack squat with Forseburg-Snoresburg. In about a month we'll be hearing about how bad his back or shoulder is screwed up. And how he wants to go play back in Sweden. Ah Peter. You dont scare me.
Members zachoff Posted August 4, 2005 Members Posted August 4, 2005 Wow, good call... Roenick to LA ...in bigger news. Niedermayer to Anaheim.
Members KeroseneTrewthe Posted August 4, 2005 Members Posted August 4, 2005 Here in Detroit we dont have a deal with Pavel Datsyuk yet. Making me really nervous. He's one of the major dudes we need taken care of!!!!! The kid is a freak.

I'm just trying to figure out if I'm going to be able to be in Nashville for the home opener. Why do they have to have these things in the middle of the week?
