Members Dogsinotpalc
Howdy all. I've got a mint condition Ibanez BTB 505 that I'm trying to unload. If anyone might have any interest, the specs will follow this intro. If you are not interested, but know where I might be able to get a good price via an online auction, let me know. I know ebay is the most recommendation, but I've heard a lot of good and bad about them and was wondering what other experiences folks might have had selling gear elsewhere. Here are the specs: BTB 505Made in Japan35' scale five string Five piece bolt-on neck with assymetrical profile24-fret rosewood fretboardAsh body with Walnut stain (first edition, not the second generation with the mahogany body)Two passive soapbar pickups with active electronics (volume, pan, treble, middle, bass w/ concentric frequency) While I know everyone selling stuff says this, but it plays and sounds excellent. So, here's why I'm selling it... I bought the bass new they year they came out. I was looking for the perfect 5-string with 24-frets, for $1,000.00 street or less. I tried Fender's stuff (American Jazz and Precision Deluxe 5-strings, and the Roscoe Beck), Yamaha's TRB 5-string, and a G&L L-2005, as well as stuff from MusicMan, Pedulla, Warwick, Spector, and others that was over my budget. The BTB really felt and sounded the best. I didn't get to play it much due to my "day job" and life in general, but then I decided to get a Godin A5 electric acoustic bass to get a mellower jazzy acoustic sound. Not only did the Godin become my practice bass (it has perfect volume for unplugged practice), it became the only bass I played. And I've been on an acoustic kick, so the already barely played BTB hasn't been played in more than four years. It's a great instrument, but I just don't need something that I don't play. Sorry for the novella. I'll have pics available tomorrow. Any help would be appreciated.
Members Mudbass
Sorry, I'm gonna have to say ebay. Unless you're a complete idiot it's near impossible to get ripped off as the seller.

Members Zebra
Talkbass has a section for selling gear. You might want to check that before ebay.

Members Rhythmalism
You can find the website of the closest college, sometimes they have a classifieds board to post on. Be ready for low balling though, most students are cheap and poor.

Unless you have something rare/coveted, it's really tough to sell for a decent price in those classifieds. If you want to avoid ebay, try harmony-central classifieds, bassgear.com, craigslist, etc.
Members bassman1956
Craiglist. Also, most local papers now have on-line want-ads. And most cities also have separate want-ad papers that are even more popular.
