Members amishland Posted August 11, 2005 Members Posted August 11, 2005 A friend sold me his very new Hartke VX 3500 combo for $350. Way too hard to move around. I can't get it up my basement steps when I have a gig. So I'm thinking of either getting a different rig, or modifying this one. I need some advice: I'm thinking of taking out the 3500 head from my combo, put it in a rack and get some Avatars (a 2/12 and 1/15, or two 1/15 cabs). I'm not a fan of 10's, and I'm just a finger player. Having two cabs would give me some flexibility for different sized venues, plus, I think I could move the cabs by myself. Or, do I scrap the whole combo, and get a Mag 300H w/the Avatars. Does the 300H compare w/the 3500 as far as power/volume?
Members LeBraniac Posted August 12, 2005 Members Posted August 12, 2005 you got me:confused: anyone else:confused:
Members Incubitabus Posted August 12, 2005 Members Posted August 12, 2005 sell the combo as is (gutting it will just leave you with a perfectly good cab, but no place to keep it and nothing to do with it). And buy some other combination of amp and cab. I recommend a Genz Benz GBE 600 or 400 with Avatar or Schreoder cab(s). Since you've been using just a combo, I'd say go with just 1 cab for now (prob the 115, since you seem to want one regardless of the setup) and go for broke on the amp. After a few months with that, you'll not only have a little more gree to spend on a new cab, but you'll also have a better idea of which way to go (115 or 212). Make Sense?
Members zachoff Posted August 12, 2005 Members Posted August 12, 2005 get a hand truck & keep the combo. Hartke doens't have good resale so you'll probably be out money on a similar rig if you get the mag/avatar setup.
