...I dont know HOW you folks do it.

I spent about 3 hours doing land surveying in 90+ degree weather in a big open field. More to do tomorrow.

I hate the summer.

I seriously cant wait until 3 months from now when I'm walking to class at 9am when it's just a few hours after the sun has risen and it's somewhere around 50 degrees.

I wish fall lasted more than 3 or so months...

I work at an amphitheater this summer.

A few weeks ago, we had a big Christian rock festival that lasted all day. I ended up working more than 16 hours, from when it was cool in the morning, through the heat, and past midnight.

THAT sucked.

But I met some cool people.

Its only a little longer till it starts cooling off man!

I'm a blacksmith/fabricator.... I'm usually outside under an overhang or in a very open workshop working with forges, welding, etc... I'd rather do it than sit inside an air conditioned office in front of a computer all day even now with the heat of summer and the odd humidity we've been getting.

I don't complain, because I know that 3 MORE months after the 50 degree weather, we'll be in 0 degree weather, which lasts for 3 months. I have a passionate hatred of winter. If I had a choice of sweat or frostbite, I'd choose sweat. No, I don't complain about the summer heat. :)

I'm a solo contract painter in Seattle. We have air conditioned weather here 2/3 of the time. It only gets too hot to paint maybe a week or so a year. I just work the shady side of the house or building as much as possible. When it rains I go inside but much prefer outdoor work. When you're out in it every day you climitize to it better. The down stroke to my work is it hammers my hands moving and hanging off ladders. I did work in Denver for a couple years and it was so dry the heat wasn't too bad but it made painting a lot more difficult. It's the only place I've worked where you could be sweating it out one day and get snowed out the next.

I have about five years or so working airport ground service outside in Chicago, and I really ended up hating it. The heat is bad, but there is also the freezing cold, the pouring rain, even when it's cold, and everything in between. I agree with T. Alan that the brutal cold is the absolute worst, the last winter I did that job i couldn't stand it any more. Chicago winter's are not jus mega cold, there is always a LOT of wind. Somehow it always is in your face, too. It sucks working outside, and I hope to never have to go back to it. My current job though, does have a lot of outside time to it, which can suck just as bad since I can't dress for it, and we still get frozen, sweaty hot, soaked in the rain etc. Weather sucks! Unless it's really nice out, of course...

I have worked outdoors pretty much my entire life. From being a Marine infantryman to what I do now, UXO (Unexploded Orndnace) Tech, it's ALL outdoors. Yeah, cold SUCKS. So does rain. BUT,.......I don't think I could possibly work indoors again. I'd die!! I am currently working at the former Badlands Bombing Range on the Pine Ridge Indian Res. near Rapid City, SD. AWESOME scenery at work everyday, such as:

We are working on Cuny Table which is in the southern portion of the Badlands Nat. Park. The day this photo was taken, it was probably around 98 degrees! This is looking NW towards the Black Hills and Rapid City.

And yeah, we have to deal with the weather, too! Which I LOVE!! It allows me to field-test all my hiking and mountaineering gear! And, when storms like the below come through, we cease work...ON THE CLOCK...'till they pass!!!!

We'll work here untill the weather (snow) shuts us down, then off to Flagstaff, AZ or Monterey, CA for the winter!!!! Yep, I LOVE working outdoors. Wouldn't have it any other way!:D

I try to avoid the sun as much as humanly possible, though I truly enjoy the heat. So rain/storms and I get along ;)

Anyhow, I did a 6 week stint in the field doing an excavation in central alabama, starting in July. I have nothing but respect for people who work in pretty mean temperatures(cold and hot) on a daily basis.

True... but I'd say frostbite is a bit more extreme then sweating, dont you think? :p
