Members onehourburn Posted August 11, 2005 Members Posted August 11, 2005 here is the picture of what i had to cut out.. the battery hole and i cut the middle screws outa the knob plate to make the preamp fit.
Members onehourburn Posted August 11, 2005 Author Members Posted August 11, 2005 here is her all together... with the Barts preamp installed and the NORDSTRAND pickup and the Abalone pickguard.,. i dig it... m/
Members sludgebass69 Posted August 11, 2005 Members Posted August 11, 2005 That battery rout is nice.......... Nice looking finished product though.
Members bassman1956 Posted August 11, 2005 Members Posted August 11, 2005 Yup, that abalone pickguard sure does seal the deal, doesn't it? Sweeet!
Members birdboy7007 Posted August 11, 2005 Members Posted August 11, 2005 So you have to remove the pickguard to change the battery??? Thats kind of unfortunate, would drive me bonkers. Looks nice though
Members s4001 Posted August 11, 2005 Members Posted August 11, 2005 What's the rundown of mods on it? Looks nice.
Members Zebra Posted August 11, 2005 Members Posted August 11, 2005 For pimped up knock-offs, that looks pretty nice. I'be been planning on a similar aesthetic upgrade for my P.Mad routing skills, too.

Sweeet! thanx i love the abalone.. it sure did set it off... way betta than the stock. oh yeah i plays like a real MM. i put my strap on it and it feels so right, it sets in place perfectly. well balanced... i have had a couple basses that were head heavy. this one is killer....
Members xdamagexx Posted August 12, 2005 Members Posted August 12, 2005 theres a chit load a views but not many opinions.. whats up with that?

Might i make a recommendation for the battery to make it even less of an issue: Ultralife Lithium 9V's. I am on my second one in my Warwick (my main bass) and the first one lasted over a year (and is actually still going strong in my tuner). My Fender is going on a year and a half without needing a new one. Definitly worth the extra bucks... BTW - Looks Killer! How about some sound clips?

I've been told the lithium batteries don't put out as much power, hence don't sound as good, but I don't know if it's true. theres a chit load a views but not many opinions.. whats up with that? I suppose people can only get so excited about a suped up OLP.

The joy of modding and improving one's axe should not be diminished by it's brand ranking. The best part of HCBF is the comradere or brotherhood it creates. Amidst this you diss his OLP, dude you are a class A dick for that. I own over 200k worth of gear of various types and I found his excitement genuine and refreshing, get with the program and be positive. Mr_Ajax has spoken.

Ajax. thanx for the up lift.. i got a Schecter and a Jackson i could brag about but i likes the OLP cuz the feel and my mod's. its all a matter of personal taste, so that dudes remarks didn't affect me.. everyone got an asshole, just some chose to show it.. thanx for standing up though.... there are some popular brands that i don;t like but i don't bash peeps for paising them or having them. they probley feel good to them.. each to their own.. but thanx again...

That I havent heard. I sell Digital Cameras for a living (Ritz/Wolf Camera), and Lithium batteries always seem, if anything, to put out more power than alkalines. most cameras using alkalines and NiMh/NiCad batteries tend to incorporate elaborate energy saving techniques, but none can hold a candle to my lithium-packed energy-guzzler. I get around 200 shots in a single charge, whereas they get about 75... Maybe a test is in order? I'll pick up an alkaline and do a couple recordings...
Members Benjamin Posted August 12, 2005 Members Posted August 12, 2005 I present to you my modded Epi Ripper! Now, she is no top-line brand. You could argue that it is a level higher than OLP in terms of kudos, but really what does it matter? I made her mine. What you can't see is two Bartolinis and a flexible wiring setup. Additionally a brass nut and other little mods here and there. She's all passive, but that's the way I like her. Cheers! PS I have to say that removing a pickguard would piss me off to change a battery. I am not a fan of pearloid on Black, especially with MM basses. Clear on black looked good on those, pity you can't now because of the battery "compartment"

Again, looks good, man!
Members BEAD Posted August 12, 2005 Members Posted August 12, 2005 Nice mod! You know, I have a squier P that I really like the feel of. Rather than sell it and buy a stock P with nicer stuff in it I eventually aim to upgrade what I already have. I don't really sell my basses, so this isn't a resale issue for me. I'll always need a P. This mod is inspirational for me... great work!
Members xdamagexx Posted August 12, 2005 Members Posted August 12, 2005 thanx for the positive feedback... it was rather challanging thinking about doing it all but when i got going it was rather easy... take in mind this was the first time i have ever done anything like it before.. so anyone can do it... who cares about brand names.. thats kinda high school, if it feels good to you and u can play it, go with it.,... thanx again.. it pleases me that peeps approve of my mod and inspires some. this forum made me want to do it. so hopefully i helped someone else..
