Members ZeroGomer
Am I dumb for changing my mind and deciding to save my money for a 3 week backpacking adventure in New Zealand this december instead of buying a Warwick Thumb 5 Bass? I had my hopes set on that bass until a friend and I started talking about New Zealand. But sadly, right now it's one or the other . What would you choose? This: ... Or this?: If it helps any, the costs are roughly the same.

Members bikehorn
of course you made the right choice. it's a warwack. NZ = on my list of places to hit up before getting wrinkly.
Members sunburstbasser
They're both ugly! New Zealand. Gear is just a piece of wood, not an experience. You'll kick yourself forever for not going, there'll be a 'Wick next year for you.

Even if it was some other bass in the same price range... you can always buy stuff later. Your buddy isn't going to New Zealand every year is he? That's right... have fun! Members ZeroGomer
What if it is discovered that all warwicks have been filled with old Nazi propaghanda and scandalous Nazi reunification pamphlets that underground German revolutionists have been pack-ratting into them, and all Warwicks will have been confiscated and burned shortly before I will have returned to the States? My chance to own a Warwick could be lost forever. Could I even have pleasant memories of NZ if something that horrible and absurd haunts me every night for the rest of my bass-playing life? I would not be able to live with myself. At all.

I've never plugged in a Warwick I DIDNT like. Eh... to each his own. As much as I love Warwicks, I think I'll have to join in with the general consensus: New Zealand 100%. Just for kicks, though: "[Travelling to New Zealand] is 22 hours by plane, so if you get the chance to go there...dont. I think that if the people of New Zealand want to be a part of OUR world, they should hop of their island, and push 'em closer." - Lewis Black - "Black on Broadway"

Did he offer to trade? edit- I was just saying that under the just-for-fun-bizarre circumstances posted, there would surely be other fish in the sea. I'm all fired up about some basses, but I'm sure I could "settle" for plenty of others I don't even know about. No need to go on the "warwicks don't suck" defensive here. There will be other threads for that, I'm sure. I heard the electronics are crappy! *runs*

But the preamp on mine is killer. It will definitly stay...

Members i_wanna_les_paul
Definately New Zeland. I was faced with the choice to get either a Les Paul - after 7 years of waiting - or spend $2000 on a new camera. I went with the camera I decided that I have guitars that I can play now. So it's not a matter of having a guitar and not having a guitar. I don't feel my guitars are inhibiting my playing ability, but rather, vice versa. However, a new camera would allow me to do more things and explore photography more, while creating memories of the places I've been. In your case, if you already have a bass, at least you can play it. It may not be as shiny and new and exciting, but as long as your current bass isn't holding you back, I'd say the trip to NZ is your best bet. IMHO, you'll look back at life and remember the things you did, not at the things you owned. Life is more defined by our experiences than our possessions. My (long) $.02 Dustin - a.k.a.
