Members Taustin Powers Posted August 12, 2005 Members Posted August 12, 2005 So I placed an order for a digital camera (canon sd400) through dell, as they had some kickass coupons going on, and even beat amazon by $55 before tax. On the item description it says "usually ships in 1-2 weeks". No big deal, I can wait that long for the money I saved... Now I placed the order, and on the confirmation email it says "estimated shipping date: October 18th, 2005"!! What the {censored}! I called their hotline and said "WTF MATE", and they explain that the camera is actually coming from a 3rd party vendor, and they simply need to wait until they get it from them.....all I can do is wait. Or cancel the order. Which I am tempted to do, and just go with amazon anyways. I'm paying tax on Dell's order, so the savings are only like $30 with everything I ordered....which is still $30 bucks, but I could have the {censored}ing thing next week. Argh, I hate it when they put misleading information on the website!
Members Zeromus-X Posted August 12, 2005 Members Posted August 12, 2005 Take the shipping time with a grain of salt though -- I've never received something on time or late from them, they've all been early. We order proprietary power supplies from them at work all the time and I'm always told 2-3 weeks, expect it on (insert date), and it's there in 3-4 days. Same thing with my monitor I've got here at home, was told to expect it over a month after I got it.
Members Taustin Powers Posted August 12, 2005 Author Members Posted August 12, 2005 How long would you say is a normal time for a company like Dell to get something from a 3rd vendor (assuming it's in stock) and then ship it to me? I have no experience with that.
