Wondering what your thoughts are on using the BBE sonic maximizer for bass. Does it really help or can my Eden EQ do everything this thing can?

I use one. The key is to not over-use it. It's easy to think more will make you sound even better, but with a band I'm usually pretty liberal with it.

I used one for awhile, however only with lower end gear, I used to run an Eden WT 800 and I felt that the BBE just didnt really add anything to the tone.

I've been using a BBE 362NR with my high end gear for 10+ years.

Great stuff.

I see 'em all the time in Broadcasting and Recording Studios.

Usually there are only two schools of thought:

1). Love it. Won't play without it.

2). Hate it. Can't hear or understand what it does.

The BBE isnt an eq. No eq can duplicate what it does. They are advertising single ch floor pedal version of it in mags now. Had one long ago when they had a pedal version years ago. Works well. The rack units work well too. Havent felt a need for one with my current gear. But it can help the sound for many folks. The rack units are also useful for mastering recordings whenever mud or lack of sparkle is a prob that eq cant fix.

I have found the Eden enhance control has about the same effect. I don't think it works the same as the BBE but sounds alot like it.

I used a BBE 383 bass preamp for years; it had the sonic maximizer built in. It is great when used sparringly - if you put in too much, you'll get way too much nasaly high end. A little bit really brings out the presence in the tone.
