Possibly. I know I wish Fender had never gone to that "modern C" neck shape. The vintage "thick C" feels much more comfy, even more so when you put a 7.25 radius on the fingerboard.

Be sure to include the bit about me drunkenly insisting against all reason that maple fingerboards are the best for fretless conversions. ;)

KA-SPLOOOOSHHHHHHH!!!!!

She didn't see the puddle in front of her. Half of her new pair of business heels was now incredibly damp and uncomfortable. But Lydia wasn't going to worry about it. She wasn't as worried about life as she used to be.

Of course, we'll have to back up now to see why that is, but thats no problem at all!

Lydia stepped out of her office building, feeling the relief of getting out of work for yet another day. Not that her job was particularly stressful or difficult, but it wasn't what one might call stimulating, either.

Normally, Lydia hopped a bus to take her home, but it was the weekend. She had no plans for that Friday night. It was a warm late-spring night, with a light breeze. The smell of a nearby steakhouse wafted through the balmy Kansas City air. She felt good, and decided that taking a walk home would feel great.

There was a small park that Lydia had enjoyed visiting as a child on the way home. It just felt right to walk through it. It was about two blocks out of the way, but what did she care? She pulled the tie out of her hair, and let her long, wavy blonde locks fall over her shoulders.

She hadn't always been a blonde of course. A few weeks ago, her hair was a medium brown color. After she caught Greg with her best friend, though, she decided some things were ready to change. The color she chose was a very light yellow-maple, it said in the catalog. Though she couldn't put her finger on it, since the breakup she didn't fret as much either.

Ah! The park! Lydia smiled inwardly. She could hardly wait to get home, take a long bath, and just fall asleep in nothing more than a towel watching TV.

KA-SPLOOOOSHHHHHHH!!!!!

She didn't see the puddle in front of her. Half of her new pair of business heels was now incredibly damp and uncomfortable. But Lydia wasn't going to worry about it. She wasn't as worried about life as she used to be.

With a shrug she sat down on a nearby bench and started dumping water out of her shoe. It didn't really matter. Nothing really mattered anymore.

It really was a pain walking in heels, she thought. Maybe she'd just carry them home. One leg was already damp so what difference does it make if the other gets some dirt on it?

There was a rustle behind her. Of course Lydia didn't fret about strange sounds anymore, and paid it no heed. She soon realized that this was a very bad mistake as a gloved hand wrapped around her mouth and she was yanked swiftly and nearly silently from the bench.

She felt a large body on top of her. She was lying facedown, her face nearly in a puddle left over from the same rain that moistened her shoe. The arm around her waist let go, but then she felt the cold touch of a knife laid flat against the side of her neck.

A deep, angry masculine voice spoke into her ear. "You scream, and I'll cut your {censored}ing head off." His warning was unneeded though; Lydia was now so scared she couldn't have taken a deep enough breath to scream if she tried.

She felt her skirt get pushed up, and her panties come down. She was being raped! She was certain she'd be killed afterwards as well.

Then he started.

Lydia tried to wrestle free, tried to get away, but her attacker was too strong, too big. She groaned in pain once, and though it was nearly inaudible it set this beast over the edge. He held her mouth so tightly she swore her cheeks would tear open.

Then he stopped. Lydia couldn't catch her breath. The predator's thick boot came down on her lower back, knocking the wind out of her again. The pain shot up and down her body. He'd broken her back! She was convinced she would die.

She felt a hand roll her onto her battered back, and then another stomp on her stomach. She just wanted to die, the pain was more than she could take.

"Open your eyes!"

She didn't.

"Open your eyes dammit!"

Lydia nudged one eye open, then the other. She couldn't see him anywhere, though she also couldn't turn her head without sending tremors of pain through her body.

She saw the knife.

She saw it coming down.

She knew no more.

To be continued...

Yeah, if he'd kept it they'd 've gone bankrupt. And he'd be out in the gutter, and never invented the stingray, started G&L etc.

If u dont like fenders, dont buy them.

The story isn't gonna be short. One day at a time, please.;)

Since neither of you probably know, Mr. Joshua set a personal record with his long story. ~80 posts, many of them longer than mine. He spread them out over quite a while, and was much more prolific than me.

Give me time!

I hate nothing about my Fenders. I've owned a dozen or so guitars over the years and a few basses and none of them had a dead spot. Fit and finish have always been consistant....mediocre to good. I know that when I buy one I'll be yanking out the stock PU's in short order and shielding the cavity. The jack gets replaced in a year or so if the instrument was new.

How Fender appeals to the masses might be summed up in a brief observation. It's the Lemming mentality and product identification. Playing a Fender might say; "I may suck but not any more than that guy over there". or, "don't expect too much out of me, it's just a Fender......" (low expectations, low results?)

But then, when you see a guy, (or gal), heft an Eden rig up on stage and whip out a Pedula they damn well better be impressive, right?

The same could be said about a Harley owner; "Hey, I may be stupid for paying way too much for this bike but it's as cool as that bike over there....and it's made in America, by god"! It doesn't matter that they are a piece of crap. People enjoy the image. It doesn't matter to them that they spent $20K for it and it still vibrates and goes clunk like the tranny's dropping on the ground when you shift it into first gear. And the ultimate Lemming statement ?....."yeah, I personalized it by chroming this and that....WHAT A VORTEX!

......what was the question?

So you are saying "a certain special something" really means "shortbus" ?
