Members zachoff Posted August 15, 2005 Members Posted August 15, 2005 We didn't sit very close and she was bummed about it. Ungrateful little.... Other than that, they had two opening acts that played 3 and 4 songs, respectively. Hilary Duff came on and the screaming was louder than the music. Ugh. It lasted for an hour. Seriously though... It was the best sounding, most well produced show I've ever been to. It's just unfortunate that the music was all Radio Disney style.

Members zachoff Posted August 15, 2005 Author Members Posted August 15, 2005 Originally posted by Zamfir the band, OK, but how do you know Hilary wasn't pulling an Ashley Simpson? She coulda been. There was a couple times where she was noticeably off-key & the backup singers helped her out too.
Members Emprov Posted August 15, 2005 Members Posted August 15, 2005 My daughter's way into Hilary Duff right now. She's not old enough to have the concert bug yet. Just a matter of time though. I take it there were lots of other dads there who were in your sitch?
Members B-Bottom Posted August 15, 2005 Members Posted August 15, 2005 Hilary Duff is a singer now? when did that happen? I know that Lindsey Lohan is a "singer" as well now. Am I the only one who gets urked by seeing a movie star trying to be a rock star? I saw a short piece on ET the other night about movie stars who are in bands. They showed Keanue (sp?) Reeves, Russel Crow and a few others. Russel Crow doesn't bother me doing it because he seems to fit the role. But Juliet Lewis was on there talking about her band. Of course they showed clips of her performing and it just irked me. I guess it's the same thing as when I'd see John Goodman up on stage dressed as a Blues Brother as if that somehow validates his standing in the music community. Not that it would anyway. Ok I'm done for now....
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted August 15, 2005 CMS Author Posted August 15, 2005 Hey, actors have just as much right to play music in a band as we do. Or to express their political views. Fortunately, we have just as much right to ignore them as everyone ignores our bands......and political views.....

I know this it just gets on my nerves. laying in so many bands over the years, putting up with the endless bull{censored} and trying to "make it" for so long it gets on my nerves to see someone who has just started doing it getting it so much attention. Ashley Simpson is a good example of this as is aris Hilton. Oh you didn't know Paris Hilton was a singer...well apparently she is now. Pre fabricated music stars. It's nothing new by any means...it just seems to be more prevelant than before.

Members SabreBass Posted August 15, 2005 Members Posted August 15, 2005 Hi Guys, I'm not a total noob... i'm the one who used to post here a while ago under the name AguLak. I'm chiming in here because I'm the assistant manager for the Keyboardist in Hilary Duff's band (who also happens to be a composer and artist himself) and I can tell you for sure that the band is playing every note. I went to the "Friends and Family" dress rehearsal before the tour, and it seemed pretty real... her intonation was a bit too good for it to be live, but her vocal quality definately didn't sound pre-recorded and I was in about the 10th row. Her back-up singers are great though. -Jeremy

As I said, it was the best sound I've ever experienced at any show & the production was top notch. I could have done without the radio disney music & high pitched screaming girls though.

Members csm14 Posted August 16, 2005 Members Posted August 16, 2005 I took my pre-teen daughter to see Hillary Duff on Thursday. It wasn't as bad as I had feared it would be. One of her back-up singers is a really incredible dancer.
