Members the_big_geez
Well, when you think of it, they really WERE a pretty good band before the whole plane thing, and then the ex-wife thing and the encephalitis thing (or whatever debilitating condition it was that took one of the guitarists out). I saw them open for ZZ Top in Dayton, Oh on Oct 13, 2000. (It was my 40th birthday. (The concert was not as memorable as the event itself.) I always liked a lot of what they did, and I always liked the Blackfoot thing. But putting Ricky Medlock and one of Ronnie's many brother's in didn't do it. (Plus, guys who weigh over 250# REALLY should NOT wear spandex...) But, I am happy to say that I survived the resulting crash that followed this once-great band's shark jump. Members Cortfan
I saw them a few months before Gary Rossington had to have heart surgery, and they were awesome. Ricky Medlock and the guy from 38 Special did the main parts of Freebird and Gary just layed back on rhythm. They brought down the house at Bluesville. I would see them again, if and when they come back to my area.
Members LeBraniac
I was at the first Rosington/Collins concert in Nashville, the first incarnation of Skynyrd after the crash with Dale Kranz (female) as lead vocalist. They were introduced by Charlie Daniels. Saw video clips in a retrospective years later and you could see me and my band mates at the time in the audience. It was at the Tennessee Theatre. Band played instrumental "Freebird" with a single spotlight ona mic stand where Ronnie would have been.
