Members mike fitzwell Posted August 18, 2005 Members Posted August 18, 2005 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 FREE! A girl I work with bought 3 cycles over the last 6 months in hopes of learning how to ride. She finally passed her road test this weekend and has no use for this bike anymore since she just got her new Yamaha so she gave it to me. All it needs a new battery, front blinker lens, and a carb adjustment, otherwise it runs and looks pretty damn good. It's been 10 years since I've ridden and am looking forward to having some fun on this bike. Gotta go out and buy some new riding gear since none of it fits me anymore.
Members Retrovertigo Posted August 18, 2005 Members Posted August 18, 2005 she bought three bikes to learn how to ride? well, her (whatever) is your gain, thats awesome.
Members timmerz Posted August 18, 2005 Members Posted August 18, 2005 They are an excellent bike, I owned one with a full Vetter fairing that I went cross-country on twice, in '81 and in '83.....GREAT touring bike! Good power, great gas mileage, great handling, everything you need to explore everywhere!

None of us at work can understand it either. We finally agreed that it comes down to the fact she's young, she's an impulse buyer, and she has too much money on her hands. For god sakes she drives a fully loaded 2004 F250 Super Duty crew cab diesel pickup to work every day---and she lives in an apartment 2 miles away. At any rate, this was the first bike she bought strictly to learn how to shift, brake, etc. And she learned quickly that it's too tall and heavy for her, hence the broken blinker lens.

Members james on bass Posted August 18, 2005 Members Posted August 18, 2005 I always liked the looks of those and the 650 back in the day. I love those with clip-on bars and a 4 into 1. Years ago, I did up a Honda 750Four 'cause I couldn't find a KZ for cheap to rip apart and re-build. That bike should be an awesome one.
Members NeonVomit Posted August 18, 2005 Members Posted August 18, 2005 People with more money than they know what to do with piss me off. However, if I just managed to score a free bike from one of them, I'm sure my opinion would change rapidly At least she's generous...
Members fretless Posted August 18, 2005 Members Posted August 18, 2005 Nice , looks well taken care of too . Disc brakes all around , it was cutting edge , 4 x carbs on that beast ? Have fun and Congratulations on your fine score .
Members sludgebass69 Posted August 18, 2005 Members Posted August 18, 2005 Nice score, that looks really clean. My buddy gave me '76 KZ750 (the in-line 2 cylinder model) several years ago for helping him move. That 2 cylinder had TORQUE, but the 4's are way smoother. I've got a '83 Honda Nighthawk 550 setting in my garage that hasn't been liscensed in 2 years. I was gonna sell it, but with the way gas is going I may start riding it.
