May be a turning point...

...for this 'band' of mine. A few months ago I decided to not push the group of players I had been playing with, to either see them get motivated and working on getting out to play, or to see it end altogether. Seemed like it was over. Well, I met a vocalist at an audition I had for another band, and thought he would have made a good fit for the group of mine. I turned down the band I was auditioning for for a few reasons, but kept the name of the singer. I decided to give things one last try with the guys and this singer, and if that wasn't going to work then call it quits.

Well, he sang real well when we did meet up to play, and we had a good talk about what we all want to acomplish. He is also bringing in a much needed shot of motivation to this group, which is great. So I just had a talk with my guitarist, and it really sounds like we are set to start things up for real, build up the set lists and get going. This could be fun again after all! The guitarist is playing a gig Saturday night, and we may meet up down there, and possibly play a few songs with them after their set is done. That should really get the motivation going.

Now if I could only get my preamp back from the shop!

Cool!

I was in the same sitch a few months back. I wound up leaving the band and starting up a new project with the vocalist. Turned out to be a great move.

Good luck in your new sitch, sounds like it could be a good one!

Good luck. Vocalist #8 looked pretty good for us too. That was three weeks ago...then the "I'm going on vacation, and then have two auditions my agent from the old band had set up when I first contacted you...won't be there for the next two weeks".

Great. I can feel "here we go again" comin' 'round....

I have definetly been there/ done that! Twice I got the excuse from singers that they had a death in the family and had to be out of town. I am making another 'last chance' with this group, it's not a done deal yet but it sure has a few key things in place. Then again, I am prone to being too optomistic with these things and being let down. I think I'll see soon how it will go. And at least the rest of your band has stuck together, having to find replacements is what finished off the last gigging band I was in. Maybe #9 will be the right fit...

Thanks, and if it doesn't work out I am going to do exactly that and work on starting a new band with this vocalist. I have had that thought for a while now, but I haven't ever worked on it. Yet...
