Members bassgirl9
Okay this isn't the worst gig I've ever played, In fact it doesn't even come close, but here goes... Before we're getting ready to go the guitarplayer bitches me out for not having all our gear set up for a pre-gig rehearsal. Apparently I was supposed to read his mind and figure out that 1) we were going to rehearse before the gig- something we never do and 2) somehow it was my entire resposibility to make sure everything was set up and running. I said I thought we could just run the tunes acoustically and save some set up time... seeing as we were already supposed to be on the road...whatever... He was mad. So that's how it started. Tear down and load up went fine, we get there, and the bar says "Oh great I'm so glad you guys showed up. The bands you're opening for cancelled on us." So now from being the opening band, we're now the entire show! We played a first set and things went okay. Then we had some beers and completely cac'd the second set. The guitar player was noodling and tried jamming some tunes. Tunes I didn't know.. Like Metallica and ACDC- perfect for an upright bassplayer who has been focussing entirely on rockabilly for the last 6 weeks. Oh what a disaster. I kept yelping at them like a freaking chihuahua. "get back on track!... Play this song, play that song! We have a blues song in E why dont we actually play it instead of trying to make one up on the spot?!" I finally went to the mic asked an audience member to come up and play because our guitarplayer was too drunk Hee Hee. And threatened him that I was going to beat him up backstage if he didn't get his crap together... heh heh. which he finally did, thank goodness. To top it all off, I blew my new 15... Got yet another huge blister and discovered that my bridge in my brand new King got seriously crunched during load in. Now I need to get a new bridge, fix my 15 and I cant play with this huge F'in' blood blister oozing yuck all over my bass. We were supposed to be recording today. Oh and we didn't get paid either. (that's why the other bands walked out on the gig) The bar ran out of cash. What's your worst gig?

Members bassgirl9
That is so funny. We hardly ever drink on stage and I was all like "Oh man, this guy doesn't know us, he's way off base..." Famous last words! You were right! I went for Rye toast and lots of water as my hangover cure. I was fine on stage, it was the Jagermeister shots the bartender bought me afterwards that did me in. Members PaulyWally
I've probably blocked out my worst gig ever... but there are a few that are near the top of the charts. At one gig, the guitarist was drunk, while the singer and the bass player got stoned (all before our first set). Everything was so f'd up all night. Everyone sucked. Then... the guitarist had the balls to tell me I was screwing up. I should have bent him over and rammed his guitar up his ass.
Members bassplayinguy
I think our worst one, was at a local festival, were playing on the side stage and the nite before, we were playing at a party just donw the road from where we were going to play the festival gig at. So... all of us drank too much, we were all hung over, i slept on the floor of a mini van, and it was freezing cold that nite, so we all slept like {censored} too. get there, and play hungover and tired and the sound was {censored}ty too. Members superiorparts
jagermeister is good! our whole band has a shot of jager before the show starts and before every set and usually the bartenders will bring a couple shots during the sets. we usually go through about a bottle to a bottle and a half a show. but only a couple of times has anybody in the band been too drunk to perform flawlessly. if i feel it coming on i slow down. i can be real sloppy when drunk. we call these shots of jager "safety meetings". jager, just not for breakfast anymore. kevin james www.monkeyboneband.com
Members catphish
Our gig last night was a rough one two. No sound guy!!!!! No PA System!!! The bar hired a company to run the sound. The company said the bar never confirmed, so there we were, three hous away in Moline, all set up with no sound. By an odd coincidence the owner of the sound company happened in and the debate began about if they were supposed to be there or not. In the end the guy got us a really crappy 6 in power mixer and two main speakers. No monitors, no mics on ANY instrument. Just vocals. We went on at about 11:15 (supposed to start at 10) and luckily the crowd stuck it out, and grew. We rocked the house till about 2:30 a.m. On the up side, w didn't need to help pay for the sound system. The bar paid it in full because of the mix up so we got paid like champs. Members Go-Mur
Our singer was wrestling with his kids, one of them jumped on him and he ended up with a sprained sternum. Doctors told him it would take a year to heal but he didn't believe them and started wrestling with the kids again when he felt better and wham gets it again. Someone else tells him "it's not a sternum problem, you have some ribs out of place, go see a chiropractor". So he does ...... about 2 hours before our gig!!!! He made it through half of the first set, with the guitar player taking every second line or a verse or two. Finally his eyes start rolling back in his head and he almost passes out. We end the set early and carry him off the stage like James Brown and the guitar player takes him to the hospital. Turns out the chiropractor crunch was pretty dramatic on his body and he was having muscle spasm's which led to him "critically hyper ventilating". Anyway, the guitar player stayed at the hospital with singer so that left me, the drummer and the sound guy. Just happens that the sound guy plays bass, so I drag him up on stage kickin' and screaming and I switch to guitar/lead vocals and pull off the 7 or 8 tunes that I know by heart. Finally we announce that we have a medical emergency and will have to play CD's for the rest of the night. It was brutal 3 of us sat around totally bored till the party ended. The guitar player showed up about half way through tear down. To top off the night, I lent the guitar player a bass and he forgot it in the front seat of his vehicle and someone stole it. Everyone at the gig was sympathetic and we actually still got paid. It was a company Xmas party. Come to think about it, we never did get invited back......hmmm?
