Members miles to go Posted August 22, 2005 Members Posted August 22, 2005 My Sterling (on left): But the BTB is making a strong run for that title.
Members zachoff Posted August 22, 2005 Members Posted August 22, 2005 My Reverend. I only have two basses and the other is a Squier.

Members embellisher Posted August 22, 2005 Members Posted August 22, 2005 My Zon Sonus Custom fretless. This is my bass of doom, it has the sound that I hear in my head. I plan on being buried or cremated with it.

Members beam Posted August 22, 2005 Members Posted August 22, 2005 Originally posted by greenshag hey beam, did you swap out the pu's and electronics? I noticed the toggle swithc... Yea. I ripped out the EMG HZ's and the EMG preamp. The neck pu is a Bart M34M(which is a blade form reverse precision pickup in a soapbar housing) and the bridge is a Bart M34C(dual coil blade humbucker). Image I replaced the preamp with an all passive setup consisting of 250k pots. V/V/T/3-way selector. Sounds much better, IMO. I was never an EMG or an active preamp fan.
Members Sacred Cow Posted August 22, 2005 Members Posted August 22, 2005 brand spanking new Wal with cocobolo top and back....good things come to those who wait a really really long time

Members melancholy mechanic Posted August 22, 2005 Members Posted August 22, 2005 man, that's a hard call. probably my 20th anniv. stingray (far right).
Members WillPlay4food Posted August 22, 2005 Members Posted August 22, 2005 Right now it's my Bongo, but I played an awesome Sterling last Friday that's still calling my name. Maybe by this time next year I'll have a yummy Sterling all to myself.

It's sounds damn good to me, and if you know how to do some soldering, it isn't that tough. I had mine done by a tech, and just sold the pickups and the preamp.
