we tried one with plant back in the day. it was for a singing drummer. never worked quite right, since i was the only one paying for it and i went for the middle of the road version shure wireless headset. too much feedback and float-through (the mic picked up waaaay too much of his drums to be practical or useful).

the setup itself worked nicely, until he started banging away on his drums...

Complete Wireless Handheld Mic Setup.

And yes, she does play acoustic guitar on a few songs...but just steps up to the mic. I think she'd/we'd like her to be able to be more mobile.

Electrovoice, Telex, Shure, Sennheiser, AKG, Samson with a Shure element. Any of these even in the cheaper end are good.

Do you have any recommendations for specific models from a manufacturer. I've got a Sennheiser EW172 for my bass. Our lead guitarist also has a wireless of some sort.

If your singer likes the mic she is using now I would recomend finding the wireless version of that. Again, avoid Nady and Audio technica. I personaly love the Sennheiser EW135 for the price.

AKG makes a wireless adapter that plugs in to any standard existing XLR mic, such as a Shure SM58 or Sennheiser e835, and goes to the receiver. No beltpack needed. WMS 40 Snap-On Wireless System. $249.00 @ MF. We have used them for years without a problem. Specify different channels for more than one mic. We use two at every gig. They use a AAA battery in the transmitter that lasts all night. Every mic, and guitar/bass in our band is wireless. Much less cords to step over on stage. Our lead female vox/keys uses hers to go out in the middle of the crowd with no signal loss. www.fullcompass.com may have them cheaper.

my last singer used this.

Wireless beta 87 with the lx4 reciever. Fantastic setup, though possibly hard on batteries. The best sounding wireless i've heard... However, it lists at $1000usd.

Whatever works well for her voice.........best thing is to get her to try out a few and see which works best for her (like rovito says.......if she has a good mic she likes now, try getting a wireless version!)

Our singer has an Electrovoice one that works really well......can't remember the model number off hand.....but she tried a pile of normal mics a while back.......found an Electrovoice that worked well with her voice (she didn't get on with my SM58) and used that.

When she decided it was time to go wireless.....she started there...and found a mic she liked!!
