Members kilmister Posted August 23, 2005 Members Posted August 23, 2005 Can anyone recommend a good P/J pickup combo? I have an old Cort bass that my mother bought me 20 years ago. I'd like to get it back to the point where it's not painfull to listen to.

I've been hauling this old boat anchor around with me for 20 years and know I won't get rid of it due to it's sentimental value. Figure it might as well work, right?

Members i_wanna_les_paul Posted August 23, 2005 Members Posted August 23, 2005 I'm a big fan of Rio Grandes. I had the Muy Grande P/J pickups in an SX and they sounded really good. I've also heard good things about Dimarzio, though. But I like the Rios. Dustin

Members i_wanna_les_paul Posted August 23, 2005 Members Posted August 23, 2005 If you want some clips of how the Muy Grande P sounded in my SX, here are a few clips, thanks to beam. http://chicagoclan.150m.com/Muy.mp3http://chicagoclan.150m.com/Pick.mp3http://chicagoclan.150m.com/Picking.mp3http://chicagoclan.150m.com/Fingerpick.mp3 These were with roundwound strings that weren't real fresh, so there will be more treble with newer strings, but it gives you a good idea of how the P pickup sounds.
