Members philthygeezer
What a {censored}ing scam... My GF got a cheque for 18 bucks (USB key bought at Best Buy) that expired a few days before she got it in the mail. The date was printed on the front of the cheque like any date of issue would be: no reference to expiry. However, we went to cash it and found out that the fine print on the back says. "failure to redeem the cheque before the date printed on the front of the cheque relieves the issuer of any financial obligation yada yada yada...". We phoned the rebater's customer service, got a reply en francais and a hangup when I started talking. Phoned again, rerouted to a bunch of choices en francais, disconnected. Better Business Bureau takes complaints but only for arbitration. Who the {censored} wants to arbitrate 18 bucks? Can you say 'unfair business practices', kids? This is thinly - veiled theft. Members kilmister
I hate that {censored} too. Just give me the God-damn money up front and save everybody the postage!
Members Subsonicbass
I won't deal with Best Buy's mail in rebates anymore. Mine usually never even show up. Only go for the instant rebate, or not at all.
Members miles to go
When I worked for a software company a few years back, they said only 5-10% of rebates were actually redeemed. I wonder how many of the others were attempted unsuccessfully. When I'm shopping, I always look at the price before rebates for comparisons. Members Undertoad
I don't buy stuff with rebates. newegg.com is starting to tick me off as far as that goes... at first they didn't work that way, but now there are rebates in every other category. Members Monkabutt
Still waiting for my $50 rebate on my HP computer. Humm, bought it about 2 1/2 years ago. Not holding my breath.
Members fastplant
GM decided to do something crazy with it's employee discount thing. Instead of rebates, they just reduced prices. And they're selling like crazy and ended up extending the offer. More companies should notice that.

Members bassman1956
When I redid my kitchen, I was supposed to get 4 rebates totalling about $350 for the appliances I bought at Sears. I got 1 for $75, 1 returned as refused, i returned as "past offer date", nothing else. When I got my HP scanner and printer, I was supposed to get 2 rebates totalling $100. Never saw a thing.
