Appreciate anything you hear. Amazingly my father in law has made it back to his house in Terrytown. He says Gretna has a lot of wind damage but the house did not flood and he suffered minimal damage. He said he will check out my house next which is more towards Harvey. The biggest problem is that there is no sewerage and no potable water.

I don't know for sure but I'd guess not good.
Members kilmister
Updates as they come in on Katrina04:40 PM CDT on Tuesday, August 30, 2005Tom Planchet4:40 P.M. - (AP) State officials say they are working on plans to evaucate inmates from the Orleans Parish prison and the Jefferson Parish jail. Both facilities face a threat of flooding. The state Corrections Department is trying to figure out how to transfer 4,000 inmates from the New Orleans jail and another 1,000 from the Jefferson Parish jail in Gretna. The inmates would be moved to state prisons including the highest-security at Angola. Corrections spokesman Pam LaBorde says it's quite a logistical situation to accomplish.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Thought this was a good example of the logistical difficulties everyone is dealing with down there. Never gave a thought to anything like this til I read it.
Members Phantasm
****ALL RESIDENTS ON THE EAST BANK OF ORLEANS AND JEFFERSON REMAINING IN THE METRO AREA ARE BEING TOLD TO EVACUATE AS EFFORTS TO SANDBAG THE LEVEE BREAK HAVE ENDED. THE PUMPS IN THAT AREA ARE EXPECTED TO FAIL SOON AND 12-15 FEET OF WATER ARE EXPECTED IN THE ENTIRE EAST BANK.**** Sounds like they've officially thrown up their hands and said "oh well." Very not good. Work has already mentioned the very real possibility that we will be relocating to Baton Rouge whether we like it or not.

Members venturawest
my closest work-friends (we trained together for two years) live a block from the lake. they lost everything when the levee collapsed this morning - house, both cars, everything but their lives and the clothes on their backs. my heart is breaking for them. they're trapped here in florida until further notice. Members Barchetta
This is so incredably heartbreaking. It's like a nightmare you can't wake up from. I can't believe they can't fix the levy and they said 100% will be under water in a couple hours?? It's surreal.
