Members The Insomniac Posted August 29, 2005 Members Posted August 29, 2005 I have no idea what this will mean to the band yet. Our guitarist has been on the verge of bolting - so I'm not sure if this will give him a reason to look for another project or not. It seems when we played a gig last month he jumped off our stage which was a flat bed trailer. He thought he just strained his leg and played the gig through pain. Unfortunately his leg never got better. So, weeks later he goes to the doctor and they tell him he has a broken fibula. I don't know much more than that but I think he is looking at surgery to rebreak the leg and then reset it. Maybe six to eight weeks off
Members bassgirl9 Posted August 29, 2005 Members Posted August 29, 2005 No shame in finding a temporary replacement. HE could be out for weeks. That's too long. Hope he gets better soon.
Members B-Bottom Posted August 29, 2005 Members Posted August 29, 2005 Damn you just can't seem to get a break with this band as of late

Members lug Posted August 29, 2005 Members Posted August 29, 2005 If Def Leppard can play with one arm, your drummer can sure as hell play with one leg, the whiney wimp.
Members Sacred Cow Posted August 29, 2005 Members Posted August 29, 2005 i played with a drummer that snowboarded a lot. one winter he slammed his leg into a tree and broke it. a couple of skrews in his leg and some pain killers he was able to start playing again. lucky for us it was his hihat leg so he couldn't do any fancy work on it, but he was still able to do the basics to keep him from getting rusty

Members The Insomniac Posted August 29, 2005 Author Members Posted August 29, 2005 He's already played three gigs with a broken leg so I figure it can't be that bad. He should just suck it up and take one for the band. In a few years he won't even remember he broke his leg (except for that pesky limp).
Members Emprov Posted August 29, 2005 Members Posted August 29, 2005 Dang, that sucks! Why couldn't it have been the keyboardist???

It would probably respond just fine to natural healing (psssh, rebreak it? He's been walking for weeks!). Replacement may be in order if he's actually out and can't play on it.
Members Dark Slide Posted August 30, 2005 Members Posted August 30, 2005 I guess it all comes down to what leg it is that he broke, and if he has a double pedal. If he broke his bass drum leg and he has a double pedal, make him play with his left foot. It'll only make him better in the end

I wouldn't even want to teach that old dog a new trick.

Members The Insomniac Posted August 30, 2005 Author Members Posted August 30, 2005 I feel a little better on the band front. Our guitarist just called and he's sticking the light controller on his credit card to be reimbursed. He must be willing to stick around for a bit longer. (earlier he suggested we hold off on buying the light controller until we get some of our band issues resolved - so this is good news)
Members The Insomniac Posted September 1, 2005 Author Members Posted September 1, 2005 I just got back from band practice and things aren
Members steveygee Posted September 1, 2005 Members Posted September 1, 2005 Which Leg???Seriously, a couple of years back my drummer broke his left leg, kept the high-hat closed and played on.Ok I had to set all his kit up each time, but he played on. kind of forced him to think more about his playing as well.
Members Perfessor Posted September 1, 2005 Members Posted September 1, 2005 Breaks also heal by them selves, don't they. The fibula is the small bone in your leg ( I looked it up) so I wonder if it won't heal out without anything. I know it's not in the same league but I broke a finger once and besides not playing for 4 weeks and not being able to put that hand in a pocket for several weeks it healed fine. In fact I forgot about it uuntil I read this thread.

The doctor wants to rebreak it and set it streight. Man - that sounds painful.
