CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted August 30, 2005 CMS Author Share Posted August 30, 2005 This is ridiculous. {censored}ing ridiculous. In something like a year and a half, we've auditioned 8 singers. Not one has either stayed more than three rehearsals, or we had to boot him. We're not fussy. We don't stink that bad. I've really never seen such a bunch of self-absorbed, undecided, panty-assed, non-commital assholes in my life. Just once, send me someone with a {censored}ing head on his shoulders, a decent voice, who actually knows how to read....can't tell you how many replies crash and burn three days and 25 emails later, with, "Oh you're in West Chester?" How far is that? Okay Jack, the ad states West Chester in the info, as well as in the text I wrote. Your search had to include your area code and how far you're looking to search. If you put 80 miles, you might actually get hits that are, now stay with me now, 80 miles away. That's right. So if you don't want to drive 80 miles, DON'T ANSWER THE {censored}ING AD!!! If you really are too stupid to figure out any of this, Mapquest can tell you exactly where West Chester is, where you are (apparently Stupidville) and how to get from there to here. Members SpaceGhost
Can anyone in the band even remotely sing? If not, someone needs to pick up the ball and go for it.

He then realized he couldn't really sing, so it was me singing lead. I would rather concentrate on bass and sing backups so we auditioned singer after singer to no avail. We decided again to continue on with me singing lead. My brother (a classically trained singer) moved back to town and started singing with us. It was great, but the guitard pissed us off so the band broke up before getting out of the basement. I am really lucky with my current singer. No attitude and a good voice to boot. Comes to practice with lyrics learned and I've only heard one mistake live. Always stays stone cold sober too! Someone is out there for you if you decide you can't do it yourself, but for now, I'd look within the band so you can get things rolling.

Members rikshaw
maybe you guys should work on singing. maybe think about taking lessons or even take turns on different songs. if the bassline is too busy to sing, tone it down some. Members BEAD
I'm sorry to here that man. You must be really frustrated. I really feel for you. It seems like such a reasonable request, and it really sounds like y'all actually have your {censored} together. I'll sing for your band.
Members B-Bottom
Same thing happend to a band I was in. Except instead of going through 8 singers in a year an a half is was closer to 18. place some ads on parocks.com or even pamusician.net The later is the print mag plus website which will run your ad for a month. It's free as long as you don't go over 20 or 25 words. Good luck
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted August 30, 2005 Author CMS Author Share Posted August 30, 2005 Believe me, if any of us could sing lead, we would. But we're barely backups if we work on it. West Chester is in southeast PA, a philly suburb. Anyone wanna make the commute, rehearsals are wednesday evening, lol. And yeah, IMO we've got our {censored} together...been together about two years, have a killer PA rig and good practice space, are flexible in our music (if it resembles rock, we'll do it), and are easy to get along with (I actually don't care about politics...only argue it here for fun). We did get another reply to the ad late yesterday. Not holding any real hope...the guy's fresh (as of Sat nite) out of a band breakup and sounds like he wants to gig 3x week.....we're looking for 2-3x/month. But he's 30 and single, no kids, etc. and has nuthin' but time. He might come out Thursday, but the search continues regardless.

Our backup singer's only experience before joining our band was singing karaoke. She kicks monumental ass...so much so that I recruited her to be co-lead singer of my rock band. Don't be dissin' all karaoke folks...some can actually sing really well.
Members Mudbass
I feel your pain man. My band has been going through exactly the same thing. We've auditioned 8 singers in the past three months. What a bunch of {censored}ing flakes! I'm tempted to say right in the ad...SUPER STARS, WANNABIES AND HEADCASES WILL BE SHOT IMMEDIATELY AND BURIED IN A MASS GRAVE BEHIND THE PRACTICE ROOM! CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted August 30, 2005 Author CMS Author Share Posted August 30, 2005 Last night I did something unusual for me....I flamed someone who had replied about a month ago, and after considerable correspondence suddenly heard no more. I had sent two more "are you still interested" emails with no reply. So last night I basically told this person off for being so rude. Well, that got a response....saying that the person had sent a reply saying they were looking for a more established band with gigs lined up, and that I had not replied. We both settled it and cooled off, but it was good that I vented. I'm sick of dealing with headcases. In fact I'm reluctant to bother with the latest candidate because they're fresh out of quitting. Just like husbands leaving wives, it's an 80/20 bet that he'll return to that band, or my band will be the 'rebound' band. That's happened at least once, probably twice to us already, and I don't want to deal with that sort of situation again.

Members L-1329
Craigv. my brother, I can totally feel your pain. I have had the same story going for a few years out here myself. The latest, that happened last week is that once I finally found a good, dedicated and talented front man, the guitarist quits! Seems to never end. Anyway, I'll have a virtual beer on me. They are out there! dammit...

Guitarists you can find anywhere....just swing a dead cat and you're bound to hit at least two looking for a gig. In fact I've got a spare just a few blocks away...good guy, got tired of hosting a band like I am, and called it a day. If we ever get off the ground I'll call on him to sub or play rhythm if he likes. Just don't get me started on keyboardists.....
