Please Give These A Quick Listen...

At our debut gig, we managed to capture a couple of songs on a handheld video recorder. I pulled the audio from the tape and tweaked it a little bit in Sound Forge (ran the smooth compression on it) and then normalized it.

I put the songs on our site. I think the songs sound fine for the website; however, our singer thinks the vocals are buried and is suggesting that I should pull them off the site because they don't sound good enough.

I disagree, but it could just be that I'm not as picky but should be.

Please give these a listen and provide your honest feedback.

Thanks!

Each file is ~4mb.

The vocals are loud and clear to me- no problem hearing the vocals- the lead guitar is the thing that is a "little buried"- piano jumps out just fine - the only thing a little distant is the guitar-

Sounds pretty decent really- I think you can leave that onh a web site as a live recording

Vocals are fine and out front on Pour Me and slighty low on Already Gone, but not anything I'd worry about. The main thing is that the MP3's really catch the energy of the band. If I was browsing and heard them, they would make me more likely to go see the band.

:)

Well, obviously pics of your singer in provocative poses would obviously make the listener want the vocals higher in the mix. You can pass that on.

I would leave them up there until you managed to get a good mobile ADAT recorder running right off the sound board at a gig, T-Broom, and I would definitely reccomend doing that soon...you guys generate a lot of energy!

You are dealing with a sound that was recorded with a camera , for crying out loud, and will never be able to wash that sound enough to get a high-quality sound recording, unfortunately....

But for what you've got there, I'm telling you it gives a decent representation of your band, and I would leave it up until something much better comes along....
