Members mrcrow Posted August 30, 2005 Members Posted August 30, 2005 for the sake of learning bass clef on your instrument... any bass music will do...a piano score has basslines on it start with the clef line note names A ---------- F ---------- D ---------- B ---------- G ---------- and the spaces ---------- G ---------- E ---------- C ---------- A ---------- now you will have to learn the fret positions on your bass to suit those notes as for flats and sharps....thats depends on the key signature learn C major first..no b no # and you will gradually get to know the positions of the notes...to flatten move towards the headstock one fret...to sharpen move towards the bridge one fret start to learn everything up to he 12th fret...everything above after that is just the same as below....being an octave higher... start somewhere near the C on the A string...3rd fret and work from there... good luck..
Members DerekDRP Posted August 30, 2005 Author Members Posted August 30, 2005 ok thanks guys I will pick this book up.

You missed something. That's not right. Go back and reread that. Why the rush. It takes a bit of time and study to get this and understand it. Slow down and take a breath. That's like saying "quick - I need to learn Spanish right away".
Members DerekDRP Posted August 30, 2005 Author Members Posted August 30, 2005 well I would love to be able to more more then one song and a half cord thats why I asked. e a d g EatApplesdogsgood lol ( this is how i remeber the striings lol ) I know soemthing about the notes i messed up.
Members Slap_Thatb_Ass Posted August 31, 2005 Members Posted August 31, 2005 This is probably the most hilarious threads I've read. First of all, it's not urgent. Take it easy. If you want to play blues rock and funk, a lot of it is written in tabs, so don't think reading standard notation will get you a lot farther. It's not called "music sheet's," it's called sheet music. The note and it's "innerds" do not notate an open or closed note. It's position in the phrase and the note itself do. I guess by b clef you mean the Bass clef? It's actually an F clef. Adjusting so that all notes on the neck are in tune is called intonation.

Why would you adjust your truss rod for one string buzzing? Just raise the saddle a little. Loosen the string first. As for breaking strings, I've broken ONE in more than 7 years of playing.

Members sunburstbasser Posted August 31, 2005 Members Posted August 31, 2005 This is a typical Fender-style saddle. These are screwed into your bridge. You just need to loosen the string, stick an allen key in each of those screws on top, and start screwing and get it to raise up!
