Members Tag
Did a forum search, but not a whole lot came up. I'm interested in the Powerhouse 4x10, and the 1x15 as well... Any of you tried these or use them? The HC reviews seem pretty positive, but aren't they always... I'm interested in the tone - how do they compare to Ampeg, SWR, and the like? I'm looking for something punchy, mean, and loud...able to take a lot without pooping out.
Members bassgirl9
Different bag altogether. Just as good IMO, but don't hope that they will sound like em 'cause they dont. I've been using MESA for 3 years now and it's never let me down. Great tone.
Members RSBro
I love Mesa cabs. I've had both the Powerhouse and Diesel series, and love them for their own vibes. The Powerhouse 410+115 setup is gonna be killer for you. Far superior to SWR's comparable setup, IMO. Mesa is my ultimate touring rig, but since I have to carry it myself, I don't have them anymore. Ask bassman1956. I sold him a 210+115 setup and he still has it, so must like it a lot!!

Ahhh...that's what I like to hear. I've been thinking SWR, just because I know they don't fart out too easily, but now I'm researching these Mesa cabs and they seem like they might be more the ticket for straight-ahead loud rock&roll. The few reviews I've read describe the Powerhouses as "punchy" - do they rumble too? I'm sort of looking for both. (Aren't we all? )

No contest, IMO. Powerhouses are cleaner and a little bit more "modern" as opposed to the old Diesel series with the EV's in them, but I prefer the new stuff pretty much no contest. You'll be happy with that 410/115 setup. It's just awesome.
Members SpaceGhost
FWIW: The impression I got of both a mesa head (Big Block) and cab was that it sounded "cold". I don't mean bad, but its a different flavor all together. I enjoyed the hell out of the older Diesel line (check them out aswell, deep sounding punchy cabs) but the power house series is just as good, if not better. Members Tag
Awesome! I noticed on Mesa's site that they make a 2x12 cab too...I wonder what that'd sound like under the 4x10, as opposed to the 15... Hey bassman1956, I saw your rig a few times whilst searching the board, man I LOVE the way that thing looks! What do you think of the cabs? How do they do under high volume, etc? Members losergeek
i had a 2x10 briefly, didn't really like it that much though...traded it for a musicman audiophile 2x10, which was better, but still not great. then i got an eden xlt 4x10 for 400 off the classifieds. now that's a cab. How's full volume with the Traynor, at a bloody loud 200 all-tube watts? Gain up to start some crunch if I want. In an open garage, aimed at the corn field across the street, with a 25 or 30 foot cord? Using an Iby SR400 PJ, treble @ 3, mid @ 9, bass @ 6, balance @ 70%P/30%J or so.  YES! Lots of bottom, not too soft or boomy at all. I very much like them! It's a very full sound, with some punch. No complaints! Can't possibly turn them up much in the house. Members januaryscar
Mesa cabs are great, but expensive. If you can afford it, get one.Or else get an ampeg. There is a reason sooo many artists use them - they are bloody fantastic.
Members roners5
Yea, not much talk about mesa here, but I've heard good things about them. The new price is outrageous- like 670 for a 1X15. So I've been looking for a mesa 1X15 powerhouse for a few weeks now on classifieds and ebay... the things are straight up IMPOSSIBLE to find used.
