Members DerekDRP Posted September 2, 2005 Author Members Posted September 2, 2005 so what about a 40-60 thingy ( i got a ditigal one )
Members bleepo Posted September 2, 2005 Members Posted September 2, 2005 i have no idea what you are asking.
Members Melville Posted September 2, 2005 Members Posted September 2, 2005 Start at a slow bpm (or thingy as you call it) and work up from there. Most metronomes that I know of default to a 4/4 setting, so there's no need to adjust that. Set it at 40 bpm, and play along, and then when you get that down bump it up a few bpm and play along. Lather, rinse, repeat.
Members DerekDRP Posted September 2, 2005 Author Members Posted September 2, 2005 thanks guys and bpm is what i ment k got it at 40 ( btw when it flashes with a led and make a click soud thats one beat right?

Members sunburstbasser Posted September 2, 2005 Members Posted September 2, 2005 Most metronomes have no default meter, they just beat at the desired tempo. 40 bpm is SLOW. When I used to work on really fast pieces, I rarely went below 60 bpm. Practice slow. When you have it down, increase about 3 bpm. This is the usualy percievable difference point for most people it seems. If you can play it, go up another 3. Continue until you can't play, and back off 6 or so until you have it very comfortably at that tempo.

I guess "default" wasn't the right term for me to use when I said that most of the metronomes I work with are set to 4/4. The meter is adjustable (how much so depends on the metronome), however I've yet to turn on a new, unused, digital 'nome and not get 4/4. I'm not sure if the 'nome would retain the meter you had it set to if the battery died, though.

Mine is digital. It tells me what time signature it is in. I'd still like one of those more decorative type metronomes, that is wooden and has the actual pendulum. Mainly for decorative uses, but I'd love to get a piano to put under it and then learn to play.

Mine does all of the standard beats and note patterns. It's amazing what some of these things will do these days.
