Members rikshaw
well tomorrow is the half waypoint. the rock n roll half marathon starts at 7 am. we are supposed to have some great weather for it. the temp at 9 am is supposed to be 74. i would prefer 44 but i'll take it since its september. tomorrow afternoon i'll decide if i want to keep at it and try the full marathon in november. wish me luck! rick
Members syciprider
I did the RnR in San Diego last June. Fun! If you trained diligently then you'll smoke the half. Just lock on to the shapely ass and legs in front of you and follow it. Good luck with the full later on!

Members bassman1956
Good luck! Yeah, I think you guys are a step or two ahead of me on this. It's apparent you've done this before!
Members rikshaw
well i finished it. i dont know what the temp was for the last few miles but it was hot. i saw three people colapse in the last 2.5 miles. i had 3 goals and i met at least 2 of them. 1: to not require medical attention - accomplished 2: to finish - accomplished. 3: to break 2 hours - i don't think that i made this one. i had a big problem getting around people and i was too worried about the first two goals to push it too hard. the results aren't up yet. there was some really good music. i saw lots of fenders and ampegs along the way. the worst tone out of all of them was a ric through a b2r and what looked like a prf cab. it looked too small to be the 410 but i just glanced at it so maybe it was. the best tone was a guy that i know playing a beautiful white stingray through a swr rig. second place was some guy playing a de armond jazz copy through an ampeg rig. there was also some young white hippy getting down in a reggae band. i don't like reggae at all but these guys were good. i didn't catch their name. there was also some pretty ungood music too. Members syciprider
Don't worry about it. It's always good to have something to aspire to. I did my 26 miler in 3:57:36 My goal was under four hours. I about died @ mile 22 or 23 (see? that's how confused I was) but when I checked my chrono and saw I was on schedule, I felt strong again. Ok, you get a pass then, never had it but it sounds painfull! I'd love to do a marathon but my shins have kept me from doing any long distances. I'm so picken prone to shinsplints it's sick. Looked at shoes, stride, form and all sorts of remedies and I still get em' all the time. Gradually getting better but it's a sloooooow process. Congrats again, totally cool! Members illidian
Awesome! I think this spring I may do some 10k's and 1/2 marathons. Right now it's all about the five thousand. I love running. It's times like these that I remember that.

Dehydration is preventable and can be serious, even when doing a half-marathon. I've been some-what dehydrated for a workout and it just sucks. It's something I try to avoid judiciously, and can't imagine racing in that state. I give the guy props for enduring the pain (as runners, that's one of the things we do) but some pains are meant to be heeded - dehydration being one of them - while others are to be avoided - such as a side stitch - and sometimes it's a tough call to make, sometimes we're right and sometimes we're wrong, and some of us like to gamble. Members rikshaw
i saw a guy collapse at a water stop. while i was running by, i thought that he might have slipped on the wet waxy cups. in hindsight and with a clearer head, i think that he might have been the guy. i didnt stop because there were about 20 volunteers there and a handful of cops about 10 feet away. the emergency personel were less than a mile from there. Members pbass_groovin
I've heard the the RnR is a good one. I've doing the Quad Cities 1/2 marathon in 2 1/2 weeks. They're suppose to have entertainers/bands along most of the way. I'm looking forward to it. I just hope its cool.
