we're moving to philly at the end of the month, my wife got a nice job with an enviromental firm there.

anybody know of any houses for rent around there? we were hoping to be in the northern area, around fort washington. if anyone sees anything good we'd love a heads up. looking for 2-3 bedroom, pets allowed up to $1300/month.

so where are the hip music stores? :D

ft washington is like 5 min from my house - it's the exit i take off of the turnpike to go home - but I'm a student in state college right now, so this is pretty weird - sorry this post wasn't more helpful lol

as for music stores - eh, not really great ones, but you do have 3 guitar centers within like a half hour if u move to ft washington that get some nice stuff from time to time. Cintiolli's in philly isnt bad (its right off of the roosevelt blvd), but whatever you do, DO NOT even try to talk to the EVH wannabe salesman -talk to the old italian guy who ownes the store.

I have a friend that lives in Fort Washington, from my days when I lived in Easton. I've sent a link to the thread to him, asking if he's got any valuable info he'd like to share. If he sends back anything, I'll post it.

i don't live in FT. WASHINGTON but i go thru the AMBLER area almost everyday so i am familiar with it. as far as houses for rent, i can't think of any right now but there are many apartment complexes in that area i could recommend.

hip music stores.... in THIS area?;)

actually there are quite a few music stores in the area. close to FT. WASH. there is GUITAR CENTER, one exit away off the turnpike in PLYMOUTH MEETING and another a couple of exits away in the other direction in OXFORD VALLEY. in NORTH WALES/ LANSDALE there is GEORGES MUSIC. there is a SAM ASH in KING OF PRUSSIA. ARDMORE has MEDLEY MUSIC. you would be close to PHILLY so there are some smaller shops off the BOULEVARD (rt. 1) and in the city but i rarely go to them so i can't give you specific names. though, there is 8th STREET MUSIC in the city but it's been a long time since i went there.

hope that helps and good luck with the move!

-cintiolli's is the store off or rt 1 i was talkin about. I tend to find george's to be a bit pricey but admittedly, I havent been there in over a year. As for 8th street music, skip that one - I spent this past summer in the city doing a research internship and i decided on a nice day to walk from 36th and spruce to 10th and arch where 8th st music is - I was thoroughly dissappointed.... and really, really tired lol. I took the subway back:p

Sorry, J, heard back from my friend today, no help:

I went to the board below but after looking at the guys questions I'd be of no help at all! Real estate is one of the things that it just outside my ken as it were. Not looking for a house, at all so .....
