Members NeonVomit
http://www.live4metal.com/live-34.htm The Monolith Deathcult came out to one of the most over-the-top entrances I have ever seen at the Underworld - epic music booming from the speakers, smoke bellowing from the stage and green lasers making the whole scene resemble Close Encounters Of The Third Kind. I have to agree. It must be "Hair" metal. You know, the kind with spandex?
Members Moody Johnny
Live4metal has reviewed my debut CD too. They hated it, but they UNDERSTOOD it! ------ "Finland seems to be teeming with Black Metal enthused bands at the moment. Apocryphal Voice are one of the more disturbed exponents of the genre. The only band I can think of to make a comparison is 'Ved Buens Ende', but even that cult Norwegian act managed to capture a refined lunacy as opposed to this cascading psychedelic myriad of unconventional music. Imagine Arcturus stripped of any pleasing harmonies, add some freakish vocals dripping with somniferous eccentricity and wrap it in caustic guitar thrums and nightmarish keyboards. The 3 tracks here follow a similar pattern of labouring arrangements and off key tones all colliding in a frightful circus like atmosphere. Whereas Emperor can be likened to classical art set to recognisable epic themes, Apocryphal Voice is Modern art where a canvas is splattered with blobs of paint smeared into indecipherable shapes. The musical experience gained from this mcd gave me a headache similar to the ones I had the morning after a night of speed. The only difference being the speed was more enjoyable. What I'm basically trying to say is you will either hate this or love it. Extreme in composition and sound albeit in a very warped construction." These gentleman f***ing ROCK!!!!! From a complete abusive assault of noise to the most subtle melodies - a full spectrum of melancholy and HELL! If only I could livecast this show - everyone should hear this band. Someday T1 will have its own TV station and then it'll happen. Until then you have to deal with my poetic observsations - but I swear it cant do it justice. A more likely and imminent reality is thier CD - which should be available after the first of the year. Not having heard it yet I can only hope that what I see live will translate to the compactt disc and do it justice. But you wont be able to see them kick over their floor toms on the CD." From the Austin Chronicle: "On the floor in front of the stage at Trophy's are three men dressed from head to toe in camo ... with pink, iron-on steer heads adhered to their shoulders. SteerS mix multiple genres into a glorious pool of guts and sweat. A song explodes with speed-metal drumming, arrhythmic basslines, and bleeps from 23-year-old one-man band Patrick Turbiville. In three minutes, waves of sludge careen out of the amp, easing the prior anxiety. It's a roller coaster ride of time changes and attacks. "It's a desire to play a set where after two songs you don't feel like you've heard everything we're going to do," explains bassist and frontman Kevin Livesay. "That's a curse that happens with bands sometimes. ... There's nothing wrong with that, it's just something that bores us." Boredom doesn't come easily when the SteerS are blowing dust. This night Livesay lines up chairs, stools, and tables as a barrier between audience and band. The barrier becomes a haphazard stage as the possessed man balances on one foot, shredding the thick strings. This isn't punk rock. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. With metal riffs streaming from the makeshift stage, the schtick of the costumes
