Members Casper Cliche
So i just got a job working for a large music store. Now that I am an employee I can buy my gear at cost. I play in a band that plays venues that hold 500-1000...and from time to time play larger shows...including a yearly festival that has around 15,000 in attendance(we are playing the main stage). Here are my prices on gear... Ampeg 4x10HLF - $455Ampeg 6x10 - $550(give or take $10)Ampeg 8x10 - $600-$650(havent checked this one but im guessing its around that price) Judging by the size of venues i'm playing, and the bands fan base is growing im just currious on your recomendations. Of course we all know the 8x10 is a great cab and $600 new is a steal. But is it necessary for what im doing over the 6x10? I like the 4x10 hlf but im thinking that might be a bit small....let me know your personal opinions. Im playing through an Ampeg B2 head(also something i plan to eventually upgrade)
Members zachoff
IMO, don't get the classic series cabinets. The 410HLF is rad but heavy w/o casters. IIRC, the 6x10 and 8x10s have rollers, so that's fairly handy. I dunno... The 8x10 seems like a punk rock standard, so if that's what you're looking for... Personally, I'd opt for SWR Pro series cabs if you're working at the store I think you are.
Members Casper Cliche
Hmm ill have to try those out. Im honestly just going for the overall best sound i can possibly get. I like Ampeg a lot, but am open to ideas. My favorite cab so far is the Basson 8x10...well that and mesa. But those both cost an arm and a leg. Members bleepo
be aware that the 810 and the 610 are very different beasts. Most people find the ported 610 to have larger lows than the punchy sealed 810.

Members brake
the 410 is a bastard to carry sometimes. it's a short cab, and weighs around 120lbs if i'm not mistaken, the 610 and 810 might be a bit bigger, but are much easier to haul around, you tilt 'em and you could even drag them up a set of stairs, if you wanted. it's a hell of alot easier to drag a tall cab on wheels than it is to deadlift a small one.
