Members HoldingThsMoment Posted September 8, 2005 Members Posted September 8, 2005 Gas prices dropped 10 cents here a few days ago, and haven't gone up again (yet)... still waiting to see how it goes. i have to use premium
Members bassist31588 Posted September 8, 2005 Members Posted September 8, 2005 Driving with a light foot only goes so far.
Members 1tallbassguy Posted September 8, 2005 Members Posted September 8, 2005 I was excited to pay $2.85 a gallon today. Paid $2.98 a gallon a few days ago. What sucks is if prices do go down a bit in the next few months, we will all be happy to pay $2.50 a gallon, which is what, a buck more than it was a year ago?

BTW, my wife chose to stay home with our kids, and watch a couple others. The income isn't huge, but it helps support our kids, and we don't pay for daycare. I know it might seem a little harder, but we love it!
Members bassguy Posted September 9, 2005 Members Posted September 9, 2005 gas prices will go down to cheep by xmas, its allready gone down 20 cents here in one day
Members J. Posted September 9, 2005 Members Posted September 9, 2005 Some guy in Congress (can't remember who) just went on a tirade against oil companies, saying that it was immoral for them to be making record profits when predicted energy costs for the heating season in the US are predicted to be up 70% this year.

The only reason they are making so much more profit nowadays is cuz people are buying more gas.. if they made say..1 dollar a gallon profit 5 years ago.. and made a total of 1 million dollars. they could be making the same 1 dollar profit a gallon today, but making like 10 million dollars (figures are just for example purposes, i have no idea how much they make per gallon.) Plus a lot of the cost of gas is the taxes the government keeps adding on, but we can't take any off that because then we complain about bad roads and not having money to fix them the only way to lower gas prices is to either use less (lowering demand, increasing supply) or make it cheaper to buy for the oil companies so they have to lower the price because of their profit cap
Members ezstep Posted September 9, 2005 Members Posted September 9, 2005 The same congressman probably has lots of stock in ExxonMobil, but it is politically correct to blast big oil nowadays. Gas here were from $2.48 to $2.98 and is back down to about $2.59. . .all in about 10 days, since the hurricane. The largest oil distributor announced Sunday that he had received a shipment and was completely filled and that there would be no gas shortage in north Louisiana. Prices came down after that. More food for thought - gasoline reserves in the US are now at their lowest levels in 5 years. The more they raise the price, the more we seem to go out and buy it.
Members The Insomniac Posted September 9, 2005 Members Posted September 9, 2005 Me and the wife both work out of our home office. It's boring sometimes but the price to commute is right.
Members DanTolen Posted September 9, 2005 Members Posted September 9, 2005 Gas prices are gonna go up soon enough once the royal family of Saudi Arabia is taken over, and they stop selling us oil.
Members bassman1956 Posted September 9, 2005 Members Posted September 9, 2005 Paid $3.19-9 today. Kind of expected it to go down after last weekend, but it didn't, and I needed gas!
Members NeonVomit Posted September 9, 2005 Author Members Posted September 9, 2005 Drilling for oil in Alaska... that's gonna go down REALLY well with a large section of the population Anyone who drives a hybrid/alternative powered car is just laughing at the rest of us now.
Members M-1 Fan Posted September 9, 2005 Members Posted September 9, 2005 Conserve. Beer is still a good bargain. Stay home, drink beer, play music.
Members beam Posted September 9, 2005 Members Posted September 9, 2005 Dropped here in the last day or two. $2.99/gal for regular.
Members narcolepticbass Posted September 9, 2005 Members Posted September 9, 2005 I was in Chicago over Labor Day weekend and prices varied from $2.99 at a lot of stations to $3.09 or $3.29. Sometimes these stations would be across the street from each other. Gee, I wonder which one is getting the customers.

Members lug Posted September 9, 2005 Members Posted September 9, 2005 ****** In the most recent study of profit per gallon, the American Petroleum Institute concluded that oil company profits amounted to an estimated 7.3 cents on each gallon sold.1 This estimate represents an industry average, but a multitude of factors can affect an individual oil company's profit on gasoline sales. ******* source: http://www.conocophillips.com/newsroom/other_resources/energyanswers/oil_profits.htm

BTW, what's going to happen to all of the used batteries?

My bicycle cost $300, doesn't need batteries (except the little flashy LED batteries for my lights) and I look great naked.
