D'addario Chromes Flatwounds....again

I used these strings before on a Fender P Bass. I sold the bass and went back to roundwound for my Fender Jazz Bass. Seems the keyboard player and I are always clashing on Bass notes. She's heavy handed on the left side of the keyboard and it does not blend well with what I'm doing.

Flats have a different (better in my situation) sound than roundwound and stand out much better from the keyboards bass notes.

Problem solved..........:D

+1 on the Chromes. I got a set Wednesday and I'm in love. I wish they were a tad bit brighter, but for the most part they rock! I've always had a bit of a problem playing with anyone not using distortion, but these babies make my modded Jazz scream!

i had this with a keyboard player using a synth...

they liked sounds like...flute..and on the high notes were fine...its just that bass flute is so muddy pigs would wallow in it and get lost..

we had to have a little chat about that

our present keyboard player is a top pianist and so always uses piano and leaves the mediocre bass lines in the score slightly unpronounced...

best have a chat...your bass is more interesting than a keyboard one i would bet

:)

Dean Markley's are a huge part of my sound but I'm always interested in trying something new.

Cheers

I recently got a set of 5 string Markleys from an ebayer who was trying to make good on a somewhat sour deal. I used the bottom four to string my SX P/J in BEAD. I really like those strings. I have D'adarrio Chromes on my SX short scale and ground wounds on my Dean bass.

I'm really beginning to favor the Markleys over the other two.

Anyways, I'm sold on flats or "flattish" over round wounds for the tone I like.
