I need more low end.

I have been using the Avatar B410 for a while now. I have started playing festivals and other outdoor venues. I usually use the pa to really get the sound out. What problem I have is when I really push the 410 the mids really get unbearable. What I have thought is to get a single 18 cab to get the low end I want. Or is there something I am missing here? All mids are cut all the way back.

You've discovered the problem with playing outdoors: there are no walls, and the stage is a sponge. You don't get coupling with the stage, and no low-end buildup in the corners (there are none).

If you're playing a stage with decent PA, get the monitor guy to put you in the side fills (AKA the Pino Palladino trick). An 18" in your rig will help a little, but I'd put my money on the PA's multi-KWs of power vs. your rig's 100's-of-Ws any day for low end reproduction.

Your best bet would either be to get a more powerful/efficient/tuned cabinet. I switched from an SWR Megoliath 810 to a Genz Benz XB2 410, and I'm now getting more solid and powerful lows than I was before with a bigger rig. Cabinet quality makes a big difference. Another simple solution is to just add more speakers. More air will be moving, and your voume will also increase.

So it sounds like you want to keep your current 4x10 from Avatar and just add something, right?

You can run a 1x15 or a 1x 18 or a 2x12 cabinet under that one, and improve your low end quite a bit, just running the two cabs full-range...or, you can bi-amp them, and greatly improve the bottom end....depends on how your amp is set up and what changes you are prepared to make in your setup.

Something doesn't sound right in your original post, though....

"All mids are cut all the way back."

You have all the mids (high and low) cut to zero and there's still too much midrange? That's weird....if you're running out to the PA is your sound guy aware that you want the mids gone, so he can roll them off also? If your bass is active, are the mids cut to zero there, too?

Sumpin ain't right....

I use multiple cab setups depending on what I need for a praticular venue my set ups range from a 115-118 ( my normal setup) or either a 115 and a 112210or a 118 112210 or 2-112210 or a 215or a212 or2-212 or a 410 and any combination of cabs GEES I HAVE A LOT OF CABS but different venues need different setups in SALL BAR YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH MABE A 212 OR 115 BUT OUT SIDE IS A DIFFERENT ANIMAL YOU NEED MORE POWER AND MORE SPEAKERS.

Your stage rig may be over powering the P.A. making the sound man pull you out of the mix or adding mids to clean up the mix. Try turning down so you can take advantage of the bass bins in the P.A. The trick is finding a balance you both can live with. You may also be out of phase with the the bass bins which would kill your low end.

Our sound guy is a nut. He will not let me use anything that will over power the pa. Which is fine with me I really want the mix to be right. We played a frat party Saturday night and I told him my problem. Nerd(the sound guys nickname) brought out some kick ass monitors. I will no longer long for bass, kick, anything. {censored} that was loud.

Like I said...

Glad to hear it worked. Nothing like truly hearing your full tone blasting back at you.
