Members mikgag Posted September 17, 2005 Members Posted September 17, 2005 Anyone use two 2x10s instead of a 4x10? 4x10 = sore back

Members The Insomniac Posted September 17, 2005 Members Posted September 17, 2005 Sounds like a good idea. Plus 2 8 ohm cabs = 4 ohms. That seems like a better idea to me than buying a 4x10 4 ohm cab.

(assuming the speakers are equally efficient) Oh, and
Members james on bass Posted September 17, 2005 Members Posted September 17, 2005 My current dream GAS rig would be a GBE600 with a 2x12 at 4ohms and 2 2x10's at 8 ohm's each. Easier to carry and it would look so badass.

Members SA Rios Posted September 17, 2005 Members Posted September 17, 2005 The 3x10 is bad ass. I think it come in at around 48 lbs. Too bad it retails for like 1200 or 1500, I forget.

Members T. Alan Smith Posted September 17, 2005 Members Posted September 17, 2005 I adore my Goliath Jr.III. I've always felt another would make me love my rig twice as much.
Members sunburstbasser Posted September 17, 2005 Members Posted September 17, 2005 If/when I get my 4x10 sold I'm going for an Avatar 2x12 with some of the money. Just because I want a deeper tone than the 2x10. I'd have no qualms about running 2 2x10s.
Members T. Alan Smith Posted September 17, 2005 Members Posted September 17, 2005 Yeah, I should mention...After comparing the SOB against more 10's, I had decided to go that route(the SOB, that is). However, after doing some rehearsals, I now feel that the Big Ben might give me more of what I want...being it behaves(from what folks here tell me) like both a 15 and an 18...kinda the best of both.

My original plan was to match my Avatar 210 with the 212 (dreamy), but the more I think about portability and price, am I really gonna hear that much of a difference, especially if I go with the 210 Neo, which has most lows out of the 3 210s they offer?....I dunno....

I have a neo210 on top of the B212, and they are much different sounding cabs. The neo210 does not get near the strength of lows that the 212 does. It is a much more mid/low mid cab than the 212, which has a bigger, smoother sound. The two of them combined however have a real cool tone that I am really diggin' right now. For the record I play mostly fivers, and if you ever venture below the E the 212 is definetly the way to go. The neo210 just seems to give up at that point, and just can't push the lows out. The 212 punches, the neo210 cuts. Together they rock!

I'm thinking the Delta 2x10 on top and Neo 210 on the bottom. I'd love to get the 212, but I'll never see a used one and I'm trying to keep the $$ low...
Members sunburstbasser Posted September 18, 2005 Members Posted September 18, 2005 Pairing the delta/neo would probably work well. Isn't the Neo like 10 lbs. lighter, too, than the other 2x10s? Don't get hurt hauling cabs around. Its not worth it. Stay healthy!
Members Go-Mur Posted September 18, 2005 Members Posted September 18, 2005 Weight is one of the reasons why I started building my own cabs. I had bought an Eden 210 and thought, "holy crap, there's gotta be a better way to haul gear than this". If you could find suitable cabs on the market, you even could put 4 110's together and get the same effect as 2 210's or a single 410. Of coarse you have to work out the ohm's etc. You could make special wiring rigs to manipulate the ohms as well, but there are limits. You also have the flexibility of bringing whatevery you need with you to different gigs.

Members Adrenochrome Posted September 18, 2005 Members Posted September 18, 2005 Nope, 4x10 & 1x15. But I am rather large so it's never been a problem. I thought moving gear was the only exercise most musicians get?
