I just dont get it.Maybe because I lived out in the country most of my life Im used to "the Wide Open spaces"Can anyone explain this to a country boy.
Members sunburstbasser Posted September 19, 2005 Members Posted September 19, 2005 Your afraid of close proximity. You'll get over it.

They probably just quit smoking and are trying to get a free "hit" off of you.

No I dont think that is it.I'll try to put it like this. You get in a elevator and are the only person on it.You reach the next floor and one person gets on and stands shoulder to shoulder with you and you were in the back in the corrner Thats kinda what im talking about.Does anyone else but me think this is weird??
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted September 19, 2005 CMS Author Posted September 19, 2005 Maybe they thinks yer purty.
Members sunburstbasser Posted September 19, 2005 Members Posted September 19, 2005 Its something you get over. The elevator analogy is a good one. I lieve on the top floor of the tallest building in town (maybe in the state?). I've had the shoulder-shoulder thing happen at times. It used to bother me but really its not too tough to get over. And yes, I do think its because your used to a more open space, so extreme proximity will cause discomfort. I mean, if Lug was getting close to me I'd get discomfortable too. The easiest way to get over it is to tell yourself "I'm so sexy even the guys want me." That'll explain why everyone is so close.
Members T. Alan Smith Posted September 19, 2005 Members Posted September 19, 2005 It's a cultural thing. I was raised in the country and went to schools in small towns. Never had an invasion of PS(personal space). Go to the big city with lots of Asians, etc, and people thing nothing of hanging out in your PS. I'm still getting used to it.

Members NV43345 Posted September 19, 2005 Members Posted September 19, 2005 I work in a 15 story building and when I hit the "UP" button for the elevator and it lights up, sometimes some other person will walk up and hit the button again, Like it is going to help. What is up with that... F-in morons.

I like to shoot a dirty look at them, make a concerned face, and hit the button again, as if they've somehow {censored}ed it up by pressing "your" button and you had to reset it.

Members Oddsock Posted September 20, 2005 Members Posted September 20, 2005 maybe they are trying to make you feel uncomfortable because you are smoking right by the exit and bothing everyone. Don't most public buildings have a minimum smoking distance? Maybe that's just here... It's like 25' or something.
