Members Jonny Five
I've been posting a lot about keyboards as of late. It's because I'm a tech director for a band organization on campus. It's pretty cool. We have a practice space (an old squash court, it's all sound proofed) that allows all muscians to store their gear and practice. The plus side? The dues are only $20 a semester, and we put on shows usually once or twice a month. Really cool opportunity. Here's where the spam comes in. We have the problem of a lack of communal gear. Most of the serious musicians have their own stuff, but there are a lot of kids who would play, but can't bring their amps from their homes. I'd like to get several cheap guitar and bass amps to allow students without their own gear at the college to play/practice (also, it will prevent people from going in and using stuff that isn't theirs, an unfortunate common occurance). We have a PA and several mixers, so we're not interested in that. What we need are bass amps and guitar amps, perhaps a keyboard (the profits for the keyboard i'm selling for my friend will hopefully fund the purchase of a new keyboard). The college will be giving us funding, probably by the end of the month. I'm not sure what kind of budget i'm working with, but since it's communal, I'm not going to be looking for super quality gear. If you guys have any combo amps, junky stuff, or gear you just don't use, send me a PM and we'll talk. I'm located in CT, and i'd prefer to pick up anything i get, but i will pay for shipping if it's necessary. Thanks!

Members flatcat
You should contact a manufacturer directly, like Fender or Peavey or St Louis Music; if the university is going to own the stuff outright, the manufacturer may be interested in some sort of deal, where they can say they supply equipment to X University, in exchange for lower (or no) pricing. Everybody wins. Just a thought.
Members Jonny Five
We're actually trying to get Pfizer (they have a plant in my town) to subsidize the renovation of our practice space. I'm visiting some local music stores this weekend to see if they will donate anything. I hadn't thought about national makers! Definitely worth looking into. Thanks for the suggestion.
