What a killer combination!

This is about the third thread I've started about this in the last few days, but whatever!

:D

Since getting the G&L's, the P bass has been hanging on the wall. A couple of days ago I dropped the tuning to BEAD from EADG. It's like a whole new instrument! I liked it before, but damn! I can't wait to get home to play it. I've always tended to leave the tone knob full-on. I was messing with it last night, and spun it the other direction and wow! I don't know if it's the new tuning or that I just didn't really notice the difference before. Both tones will work with our setlist. I'm looking forward to playing it at rehearsal on Sunday.

Feel free to ignore this thread! I'm just giddy like a schoolgirl right now!!

:)

Did you leave the stock EADG set on that was already on it? My beater P-bass copy needs new strings desperately and I thought about going BEAD when I do it....hmmm

Same strings.

The strings are a little less taut, but I've played many a fiver in stores that had way more floppy strings. Since I'm trying to develop a light touch, this is making me work at it a little bit harder.

I'm inching you closer to becoming a Timmy C fan :p

I'm glad it turned out so well for you :) I'm eargerly awaiting my first set of flats, they are going on the T-40. I just might BEAD tune that one for kicks ;)

For your country stuff, a P-Bass with Flats with Tone rolled down to bassy will really thicken up those lines.

I like P with Flats for

RnB - This is the Jamerson Setup after all!

Country - Rounds sound too thin for the sparse lines. Flats will get you thumpin.

Same here.

My first set of flats should be in the mail either today or tomorrow.

Your in for a real treat ...and an eye opener. I never played flats 'til I got Thomastiks for my fretless 'Ray. For me, the tonal inspiration wore off quickly ...'til I heard it in a mix. Live or studio, flat's really simplify life. :D
