Members Death Requisite
A few gigs ago, my hartke rig got stolen. I have shows coming up, and not a lot of money. I was wondering if I could swap out the speakers in my 4x12 guitar cab for bass speakers without it sounding terrible. I know a lot of importance is placed on proper cab dimentions, porting, sealing, all that, but I don't really understand the specifics of it. Can I get away with this or should I keep going direct (had to this past weekend, it was atrocious) until I have money for a real replacement. Members zachoff
If it's a closed back cabinet, you probably could but it probably won't perform as good as a real bass cabinet. If it's an open back cabinet, it won't do much for you at all.
Members Kiwiburger
Guitar cabs are just too lightly made to take bass. You would shake them apart, or they would rattle. You risk damaging them. Go DI, save the money.
Members bassplayinguy
have you tried renting? ive done this when my gear broke, usually you can get away with paying like 30 bucks and having a pretty decent rental rig to play a weekend gig

We used to rent PAs for gigs in college and it's a good way to go.
Members fretless
The Great Steve Harris puts EV's in Marshall 4x12's though he uses alot of them .
CMS Author Craig Vecchione Posted September 21, 2005 CMS Author Share Posted September 21, 2005 Just get an Avatar cabinet. The B210 should do fine, and would cost less than four 12" Eminence Beta's.
